I'm lobbying for Murph to be our next coach. He always knows what he's talking about. Why not go from one roommate to the other? The only thing is, he might get a lot of technicals because he's always emotional, and I'd miss his color analysis.
Calvin would be too nice to the players like Rudy T. I think the players need a coach that will jump down their throat and bench them if they dont do what he tells them to do. I can't really remember but was JVG a strict coach or players coach?
Calvin could literally kick the entire team's ass and not think twice about it. If anything, he'd be an extremely tough coach. Remember, he used to be a Golden Gloves boxer!
I loved him as a Rocket but getting Calvin off the mike (with all his insipid jokes about cookies and offensive ones about how 'poor' he is) is the only good reason to make him coach. Half the time I turn down the TV and listen to Gene instead.
I just hope whoever they choose has a track record for winning with another team and isn't one of our assistant coaches they decide to move up.
Getting Calvin depends on what the new uni's look like. However, all kidding aside, Calvin would be a tough, solid coach and he has the credentials to succeed Rudy. He knows the team and he has definite ideas on how they should play. He can work with youngsters and the veterans give him the respect he deserves. If nothing else, the free throw shooting would improve. I certainly wouldn't be unhappy if Les had the courage to give the Pocket Rocket a try as head coach.
Calvin would be even more of a player's coach than Rudy. Aren't we trying to get away from that? I have no doubt that Calvin would be a good teacher. It is his whole side show act that I would not look forward to.
