This thread is basically for anyone who has a gut feeling about a future event this season and wants to declare it here first. My bold predictions 1. Phoenix will continue to falter for the rest of the season, they will barely make the playoffs at the 7th or 8th spot, they will draw the Lakers in the first round, SHAQ will somehow return to his former self and the Suns will upset the Lakers in the first round. 2. Lebron James will win MVP(maybe) the Celtics and Pistons will think he is undeserving of the honor, He will draw the Celtics in the second round and proceed to abuse garnett, allen and pierce in a manner never seen before in the NBA, He will defeat Boston then he will go on to defeat the pistons in the eastern conference finals for the second straight year, and then proceed to the NBA FINALS.
1. Lakers will win it all, Kobe MVP, finals MVP 2.Cavaliers eliminated first round, Boston edges detroit and comes out of East, then loses to lakers in 7
Maybe? Doesn't sound very bold... I say, the Suns continue to struggle, but the Mavs get it together. The Lakers will NOT win the championship, they are a overrated IMO. The Spurs will grind it out again as WC champs. The Rockets will get out of the first round.
i'm going to say the gasol and bynum at the 4 and 5 won't work. too tall. and not as athletic and skilled like hakeem and sampson was. though they may go far for a long time, maybe this whole season and playoffs, but there will be a time, where we find their weakness. whether it's their bench or something else. suns are going down for sure. mavs won't be in top 4, or even 5 (depending on thursday game) but will win the 1st round. hornets won't be top 2 spurs will be in the finals.
Celtics will play the Cavs in whatever round. Garnett will ask to guard Lebron exclusively. Through the first two games of the series Garnett will hold Lebron to something like 17/4/4 on sub 40% shooting. Dictator Stern will not be pleased and will direct his referees to make sure Lebron "gets his" Lebron will go on to average 36/8/8 in the next three games. Again, in game 6, KG will shut down the young phenom and even frustrate him into getting himself ejected. Celtics win the series in 6 but not before Ben Wallace delivers a flagrant foul on Sam Cassell in the closing minutes of the game 6 thus ending Cassell's season and Boston's chance at a title. As Cassell is helped off the court a beam of light casts down through the roof of the arena onto Sam. He is magically lifted up 20 feet or so and then disappears. Mr. Cassell has finally gone home.
Not this season but: Lebron James will go down as the greatest of all time when it's all set and done, while Kobe will be considered in the top 5.
He has a long way to go to be #1 of all time but he sure is making it impossible to count him out even this early. We say he can't shoot. His shot gets better. We say he isn't clutch. He starts taking over games down the stretch. We say he doesn't play defense. He is certainly at least a GOOD defender now. If the kid's skills keep growing, he avoids injury and starts hitting his damn free throws it is hard to imagine him not picking up a few rings and being mentioned next to names like Magic, Mike and Larry.
Lebron James and the Cavs are the Eastern Conference Champions again by beating both the Pistons and the Celtics the 8th Seed of the West Conference will upset the 1st Seed in the first round again
1. I'm predicting a repeat of a previous Finals: Spurs vs. Pistons 2. Bynum doesn't make it back to help Lakers. He may get back to play but not back in game shape and effective. Lakers lose in either the second round or the Conference Finals. If they play the Rox in the first round (doubtful), they lose in the first round. 3. Finals MVP: Chauncey Billups 4. Rockets will upset somebody in the second round to get to WC Finals unless they meet Spurs before the conference finals. 5. I agree with Phoenix floundering the rest of the way. They will turn into a playoff nonfactor.....if they make it. 6. Orlando will struggle in the first round, if they get past the first round, they will lose in 5 games in the second round. 7. EC Finals Boston vs. Detroit 8. Ray Allen comes up with shooting gimps, shoots very poorly, and is blamed as the weak link for Boston's loss to Detroit in EC Finals. 9. Jose Calderon cements his lock on the starting point guard postion for the Raptors and a new multiyear contract worth $50 mil+ with his playoff performance, turns T.J. Ford into trade bait (if he hasn't already). 10. Wizards struggle to wind down season and wind up at either 7 or 8 and get demolished by either Boston/Detroit in a sweep. 11. Atlanta nudges out NJ for one of the last playoff spots and shows they are on the rise in their first round loss to one of the big 2. 12. Philly winds up at #6 and gives Orlando a run for their money. 13. Rasheed and Garnett go jaw to jaw in one of the greatest trash talking exhibits of all time. 14. Big Z and Big Ben dominate Toronto's front line forcing Toronto to the perimeter where they have to settle for jumper after jumper. Cleveland dominates the boards and gets the runouts from the long rebounds off the long shots and ignites Lebron on the fastbreak. Toronto is forced to deal with their lack of physicality on their front line during the offseason, using T.J. Ford's contract as tradebait to get themselves a hammer, possibly somebody like Chris Wilcox. 15. New Orleans loses in the first round......unless they play Phoenix (and then they still might lose). 16. Golden State winds up with #8 but no upset this time, they get taken out in 5 in the first round.
Denver gets left out of the playoffs Rockets go past the 1st round of the playoffs In a 3-way draft day deal Denver trades the Draft Rights to Russell Westbook and Nene to Houston for Bobby Jackson, Aaron Brooks, and a future 1st from Houston.
1. Yao will make the winning shot in the Finals. And by winning shot, I mean he'll use his Counterstrike skills and snipe the star player of the opposing team.
What top 5 of all time isn't good enough. I can't tell if you're being serious or not. Most people here know that I'm one of the biggest Lakers fans on this site.
