Just to save everyone the trouble.

We should've drafted Lewis in 1998 instead of Drew or Turskcan.

"Remember the '98 Draft" will go down in history along side another famous saying in Texas, "Remember the Alamo".

Hey guys, go start a political forum in the other BBS or something...Geeez. The fact is we probably wouldn't have had the luxury of drafting Mobley if we selected Lewis.

Why wouldn't we have drafted Mobley if we drafted Lewis? Lewis was projected as a SF or maybe even a PF... Plus, the Rockets wouldn't rely on him the next season, he would have been a long term investment...

Mobley was either a PG or SG...

If anything drafting Drew and Dickerson is what would have prevented us from getting Mobley...

    Fortunately, we got Mobes...

However, I would probably trade him straight up for Rashard...

KidRock: You regret taking Dickerson? Dickerson kicks ass in his own right... and getting Dickerson netted Francis.

    Turkcan and Drew... *grrr*.

Ah well... maybe if we spank Seattle a few times, he'll reconsider.

Haven-I'm not regretting the Dickerson trade... What I was trying to say was that Drew and Dickerson, since they were both guards, would have been more likely to prevent the Rock from drafting Mobes, than Rashard would...

Lewis = Horry without the defense.

no dribbling...must score within the system.

    My obligatory response remains:

We should have drafted Al Harrington.

David Stern wouldn't have let us draft Mobley, Dickerson AND Lewis in the same draft....That's just too good to be true....

Ofcourse, it's all part of a huge plot by the league [IMG]

Lewis will be one of the top small forwards in 2 years.

not unless he learns to dribble Francis3.

geeze the man is SOOOO overrated. I have never seen him create his own shot, yet. I mean, I really haven't. He is Horry without the D.

I agree we should've drafted him atleast he's in the league(Turckan),on another note Stickboy(Lewis) doesn't know how close he came to getting his ass kicked last night. He is so lucky that elbow he threw at Franchise didn't connect cuz Mobes would've hurt him [IMG]

And I thought, "no way could anyone disagree with this thread". Looks like I overestimated the intelligence of my fellow posters. [IMG]

I've always wished Lewis was drafted instead of the Turk. I didn't really like the Drew pick, but if circumstances had been different, he could have worked out. Still, the draft of 98 was redeemed by the drafting of Mobley and, to a lesser extent, Dickerson.

The high school kids, by and large, do seem to develop into really good players, eventually. Lewis isn't there yet, but he is just 21. 4 years younger than Dickerson, 5 years younger than Mobley, and even 1 1/2 years younger than Francis. I'd bet on his continued maturation.

If you want Harrington all you have to do is trade Olajuwon. Your move [IMG]

Chill out dude. I've just been around long enough to sniff out potential days when there will be 14 or 15 different threads about the same thing. I'm sure you've noticed it with the recent Hakeem and Mo threads. It's happened before with the whole Lewis thing, I was just trying to condense them into one.

Personally, people should get over it. If I recall correctly, every team passed on him once, and we still can't evaluate that draft because of the draft picks we still have from those picks.

Outlaw: I hadn't noticed, but that's pretty bizarre... now let's find a way to blame it on David Falk.

    Rocketman95,

I was kidding. I forgot my smiley face.
I must say this though, if The Rockets would have selected Lewis the Sonics would have drafted Mobley before or next pick was up.

    has anyone noticed this?

    1998 draft
    #31 Ruben Patterson
    #32 Rashard Lewis
    #33 Jelani McCoy
    #34 Shammond Williams

pretty weird that they're now all on the same team and doing pretty well.
