It's been rumored for a while, but it appears it might happen. http://www.startribune.com/stories/507/5582907-2.html Kiki's been talking to Spree AND Nick the Prick. I guess this is the lesser of the two evils, but man, I'm not sure I can handle a whole year of that punk.
Well he does fill a big need for you guys. I still don't understand how you couldn't manage to get any of the other free agent SGs out there.
Nuggets4, your team is the only one that makes sense for Sprewell now. Considering Kiki is "O" for the offseason and how much you need help at SG, I maybe could handle taking on Sprewell if I was a Nuggets fan. I feel your pain because if he came to the Rockets my enthusiasm would have been muted while he was here. It must be hard going from being the "leading contender" to get Cat to discussing TO Jr. BTW, what's the pulse of Nuggets fandom and media? Are you/they hugely disappointed Kiki hasn't been able to get a SG? Is Kiki on the hot seat? I've ranked your team high up in my WC seedings for next year, but I'm rethinking it. Let's assume George Karl will be fully recovered and back to his old self by the time training camp starts. Some questions for you: Has Voshon Lenard fully recovered? Can a training camp and a full season of Karl overcome the sorry offseason? Has Melo been a workout warrior and is he expected to go to another level? What is the expectation level? Top 4 seed? Historically and now, who do Nuggets fans consider their top two biggest rivals?
I actually think NVE has something left, and it looks like he's cool with his role as an elder statesmen. If he gets to the right team this fall (let's face it, he's gonna pull a Strickland and wait until October to sign), he could really help. Spre's problem (one of them, at least) is that he still thinks he's a 35-minute player. Sadly, on the Nugs, he might just get those minutes. I'm not as high on Dermarr as others, but he's turned into a solid defender (!) and was far superior to Spre last season. And here's something that N4 knows that nobody here may remember (solid pub trivia): the 2004-05 Nuggets had the best post-All Star break record in NBA HISTORY. Pretty good for a 7th seed.
well maybe Kiki can make some trades you guys are pretty bottom heavy (front court) and we have a glut of guards maybe something could be in the works. I wouldnt mind prying nene away from you guys for say our sharpshooter off the bench Moochie and PG leader type CWard! LOL (joking) but I would give up Wesley for a resigned Nene who can hopefully become our backup PF/C of the future and challenge Yao/Stro for minutes.. Once Deke retires a young 3 man rotation of Yao/Stro/Nene sounds pretty nice doesnt it? JHoward will continue losing minutes hopefully because Stro is just that good. J
I thought the Nuggets would be top 4 going into last year. That team is tailor made for the regular season but I can't see them doing much damage in the playoffs without a real star. The league has evolved so much so quickly that it's startling. Obviously, you have the change in the East where you used to have some joke team like NJ come out but now you have 3 legitimate title contenders (Miami, Detroit, Indiana) out there. What nobody has mentioned is how the West is no longer top heavy. For quite some time, it had been that there were atleast 4 teams in any given year talented and experienced enough to compete for the championship. You had the Lakers, Spurs, Sacramento in their peak, Portland, Dallas, and Utah all seen as legitimate contenders. Now the only real contender is San Antonio. Houston has the talent, but you can't yet call them a contender until they've done something, and they haven't been together very long. I think you'll see San Antonio, Denver, and Sacramento as the top 3 seeds this year.
Oh, I meant based on the division winners. The top 3 records will be San Antonio, Houston, and Dallas.
I do hope that somebody other than the Spurs will take the top seed. I am assuming that we are going to be second in our division. Spurs getting the top seed seems to guarantee a second round show down against them. I am not afraid of playing them in any round. Just want the matchup to be the WCF to make it more interesting. Back to topic. If Denver gets Spree, the last thing I've been worried about (Spree being on our team) will be gone. It will make it the perfect offseason for me.
Why would anyone start out being a Nugget fan to begin with? Do you like torturing yourself or did your mom drop you when you were a kid?
Remember Voshon at the 3 point shootout? He was a tub of lard! and that was only 41 games after his injury. He's getting pretty old too, so I don't think he can be relied on for starter's minutes again, like two years ago. I think Spree has one good year left in him. He'd be a good addition.
I hear Isaiah Rider's looking to come out of retirement... How 'bout you guys give him another shot at SG? I think he's younger than Spree...
Ewwwwwwwwwwwww. I never wanted Cat. He was not what we needed. But I'm afraid to get into that here because he has quite a few fans still on this site...... Pretty disappointed. It seemed like our entire plan was to get Finley and then we barely put any effort in to it. Kiki is almost patient to a fault IMO. That said, he's one of the top GM's in the league (IMO) and will have a place in Denver for quite a while. ******? Meh. I guess. I'm hoping he's not playing serious minutes. Big speculation is that he was brought back only because it didn't effect our cap situation and he gives us an expiring contract at the deadline. Damn....it's not like we lost a lot of players. Hell, we didn't really lose any (except DJ). Considering how much change this team usually has each off-season, I'm fine with that. I've actually heard that he's been working hard this summer. A lot harder than previous. I think we're going to see a new Melo this year. I still think we're going to have a Melo-Karl meltdown in 3+ years (similar to Seattle and Milwaukee), but for the time being ,they're great for each other. Win our division. Anything less is a serious problem. Record wise, I see us being 4th or 5th in the West, but our division isn't that strong. Damn....Utah obviously comes to mind because of location. Other than that, I'm not really sure. I think it depends on the person. Personally, I can't stand Minnesota (playoffs two years ago), the Lakers and the Suns. Plus, I like beating you guys because it's fun to read the board when that happens. A lot of us on teh board I post on are curious about this as well. Why isn't DJ being brought back? Hell, why is he not getting any interest? Agreed. Wow. Really? Would you also trade a Pinto for a brand new Lamborghini? I just wanted to leave my post making sure everyone saw this fact. It's the biggest reason I'm excited about the season. I'm not expecting us to go on another tear like last year, but we're going to see a good to great Nugs team this year. Unfortunatley, it's in the same conference as a GREAT San Antonio team and a lot of other top tier teams such as you guys and Dallas.
