you know i'm like the only indian who hasnt seen 3 idiots yet. the weird thing was when it came out in theaters over a month ago i asked my friends to go see it and they just thought i was being dumb now they've all seen it and keep saying 'all izz well' (reference from the movie) just havent had the time to go see it not sure if i want to even now
Same here! But while i heard its a good movie, apparently its not up to typical Amir Khan standards, or at least not one his best works....I think it may just warrant a rent from me now....

Nope, I'm Indian, and I haven't seen it yet either. But then again, I rarely watch Hindi movies anyways, so it's not a big surprise for me.
yeah i guess out where i live and with my friends like all my friends saw it even the ones who never watch hindi movies...heck my parents (who do watch hindi movies) saw it in the theater usually my dad just rents the bootlegs from the video store to watch at home not sure if a true indian movie will ever have major crossover success though here since pretty much they are all musicals and extremely long wasnt lagaan the only hindi movie in the past 10 years or so to be nominated for best foreign picture? that movie didnt do too well either amongst an "american" audience
I saw it... it was entertaining. Don't typically enjoy Bollywood but this had only a couple of songs and it was pretty well acted. But it's still in Hindi and still a Bollywood film... which means it will never reach the success of Slumdog which is a Western film with a lot of English parts. Plus the comedy aspect won't transfer over that well.
In terms of the movie theme and message, I thought '3 Idiots' was very good. Many parts of movie had over-dramatic situations, which I'm not big fan of.
Waiting for the official DVD to come out! Will watch it then. Yes, there are some of us who refuse to watch the bootleg version of Indian movies.
Not white! Indian. I spent alot of money on my Plasma TV and surround sound system and want to watch the best quality available. What's the use of spending money on a nice TV and surround sound system if i'm just going to watch bootleg crap.
an indian who doesnt watch bootlegs? sounds white to me i see what you are getting at but most of the bootlegs i've seen have been pretty decent dvds actually but licensing is such a joke in india you'll have 5 different "official" copies of the same movie.
3 Idiots was a decent movie. Parts of it were really good while other parts were way too melodramatic. Overall a solid movie worth watching. Though a lot of Aamir Khan's previous movies are much better IMO (Dil Chahta Hai, Lagaan, Taare Zameen Par, Jo Jeeta Woh Sikandar).
if you have the patience to download large files, desitorrents has 720p versions of the latest movies available....
