I wonder how many people think Mario Chalmers will turn out like how Rondo did for the Celtics. People thought Rondo wasn't a good fit as a starter for a team trying to win a championship. He proved everyone wrong. Although I think Rondo is the best player on the Celtics three years later I do not think Mario well be the best player for the Heat ever, but he could have the same impact like how Rondo did in the 07-08 season. You can also make the same comparison to Kendrick Perkins and Joel Anthony.

There is no comparison...Rondo has that special something where he could take over games. Chalmers is a super scrub who happens to be less scrubby than anyone else on that team in that position so he starts.

Is Mario Chalmers even going to start? Comparing Rondo to Chalmers is ridiculous.. Chalmers sucks.

While I agree that Chalmers is not in Rondo's league, a lot of people were saying Rondo sucked when he was in his first couple of years. He couldn't shoot to save his life. His rookie year, he was having troubling competing for minutes with Sebastian Telfair.

The difference between Rondo's situation and Chalmer's is that LeBron, Wade, and even Bosh will be doing faaaar more ball-handling than Pierce, KG, and Allen.

Ridiculous OP, but everyone is entitled to an opinion. Chalmers is a complete chump.

I don't think you can read.I never compared any ones game but you do prove my point people said the exact same thing about Rondo "he's was a scrub" he just happen to be the best player available at his position, but look at him now . I remember they actually brought in Sam Cassell and people thought Sam should have started when he got there what i was stating is the comparing the there talent I'm comparing there criticism.

I agree about Chalmers he's a scrub and if you all read I said nothing about Rondo and Mario being the same player on the court. Rondo is way batter than Chalmers will ever be. I'm talking about the fact the nobody believe's he Mario is good enough to be on the same court as Wade,James,Bosh and the same could be said about Rondo in the 07-08 season.

if chalmers hit the open shots, he could have an impact, with wade and james handling the ball, there is almost no need for another playmaking point guard he just has to hit the open shots when they double james and wade.

Rondo is a much better athlete. Not only is he ridiculously ripped, that sports science show broke down how his arms are basically long whips that allow him to make passes pretty much nobody else in the NBA can. Mario Chalmers is lucky as hell that he is playing with the most talented team ever assembled.

Well....I used to think Rondo was one of the worst PGs in the league.

This. The less Chalmers handles the ball, the better for the Heat. He just needs to park at the arc and hit the wide-open 3. Mike Miller will be more of a playmaker on that team than Chalmers.

He also needs to do serviceable job of playing defense.

I think the potential was always there for Rondo. Chalmers...not so much.

I haven't seen much of Chalmers. How has his defense been so far in his career?

Chalmers has a knack for getting steals. Not sure about his defense. I think he could have a solid season simply because he is on a team that is loaded in unprecedented fashion.

Him and Rondo though.. no way. Rondo was way younger and has natural ability that is just sick nasty. Guys a physical specimen who put it together. Chalmers lacks that natural ability and has yet to put what he does have together.

Not very good and he has huge lapses of concentration. There are times when I'm thinking "What in the world is he doing out there."

I believe Chalmers has the ability to play decent defense and hit open jumpers but he has a problem between the ears. The guy isn't trustworthy enough to be the starting PG on ANY team. I look for the Heat to pick up an experienced veteran before the trade deadline and I don't expect Chalmers to be in their playing rotation by end of season.

For that matter, wouldn't halfway be surprised if he's the 12th man (or even off the team) by the season opener. It's amazing how much he regressed last season.
