http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3470016 according to ESPN, Davis has just agreed to sign with the clippers, now with Davis in the line up, Brand and Magette would take a small pay cut to get back to the clippers to form a new big three for a ring. possible?
Maggette is going, going gone. The Clippers are now a decent team. That means they will finish 10th in the West.
According to the ESPN story you posted, it says the Clippers would have to give up on Maggette and convince Brand to take a paycut in order to resign him. They can't sign Maggette, because they will have used all their salary money.
I thought you had to be 'big' to be part of a 'big 3' How does Maggette figure Did I miss the all-star game he played in
Hopefully, here, here, here. I wouldn't feel this way if I thought we had a chance to get Artest, but there aren't many realistic ways the Rockets can upgrade, and this would be one of them.
clips look like a top 6 team in the west to me it seems like. they have an inside and outside presence (kaman AND brand). they have a great rookie from last yr. decent bench. underrated defense. they're not better than us, but they're a team to watch out for. i think if we go to battle with the team we have now, i still have confidence IF we are fully healthy. but that's a big IF.
The Corey Maggette hype on this board has reached absolutely unbearable proportions. No trio including Corey Maggette constitutes as a "Big 3." Sorry.
how so? dude put up 20ppg last yr on 45% shooting going to the line 9+ times a game. ray allen is part of a big 3 putting up only 16ppg and sucking for most of the playoffs
He scored 26 ppg before coming to the Celtics. He is taking fewer shots, but his percentages have actually gone UP. Ray Allen has been in the all-star game. Maggette has he even seen it?
Really Kaman and Maggette count as .7/1 So technically they would have the big 3.4 I am pretty sure thats the official number.
fewer shots? corey is much more efficient than ray ever has been for the simple fact that corey always is among the league leaders in ft attempts a game. maggette may never be an all-star, but we're talking about being the third option here. ray in his prime >>> maggette. ray is now no longer the player he is as you saw his suckiness for almost 2 rounds. as a 3rd option going into NEXT YEAR, you have to take maggette over ray allen.
That would really be wonderful, but in order for something like that to happen, the Rockets would have to gut away a large chunk of their remaining roster in a trade to get one and keep T-Mac and Yao. I think the only reason this thread is still in this Rockets' forum rather than on NBA Dish is that Baron Davis's signing with the Clippers (if and when it becomes reality) lessens the number of good quality PGs available on the free agent market by one.
Big three? Are you kidding me... Kaman is not that good, but can't be sure about Brand's health... I amd not even sure if they make the playoffs
Who are we to disagree with the Celtic's results? Ray Allen got them a ring. We need 3 all-stars. Maggette ain't an all-star. We need to keep looking.
