I am sure everybody knows that NBC is bringing back this sports entertainment show again this Sunday night. There will be new events, new technology, and new twists to the events and shows that were not present during its previous version. There will also be new persona as well. Does anybody plan on watching this? I probably will watch the first episode but I don't plan on becoming an avid fan like I was with the original series. Not sure why but I guess we will have to wait and see.
This contestant is 150 pounds. He must be competing against the female gladiators. http://www.nbc.com/American_Gladiators/contestants/alex_rai.shtml

Those were some of my favorite shows back then. I always used to think I could always outdo the gladiators and how I would fake them out. Well sometimes you gotta know the rules.

Yeah, I'll watch the first episode just to check it out. I might keep watching, though, to see Hulk Hogan make a fool out of himself. I watched him so much when I was a kid, I tend to watch him whenever he's on TV for some weird reason. I can't believe Lisa Malosky was on that show. Even more shocked at John C. McGinley being on there.
I think it would do better if they tried to make it just like the cheesy 80's show, but they will try to modernize it and it won't work.
my roommate went to a taping of the show (they are currently doing some tapings on the Sony lot) and he said it wasnt very good. I think a lot has to do with that it took forever to break-down and put up new sets for events and the crowd had to just sit there. he also said that it wasnt as good as when we were kids. i dont think it will do too well, it seems like AG was a product of time and environment. today's tv viewing tastes have changed dramatically from that of 10 years ago let alone 15-20 during AG's heyday
I agree that it probably won't do well, but I think it would if done right. The classic AG episodes on ESPN are very entertaining because they are cheesy and ridiculous looking back at them. I can already picture that the new ones are going to have a feel that is part wrestling, part Dog Eat Dog, and it won't work. I still think ESPN should've had the Sklar Brothers do commentary on all of the classic AG episodes like on Cheap Seats.
