Who will they trade for our Swift?? They have nobody to offer since they won't move kidds, carter, and jefferson!!! http://www.nypost.com/sports/nets/58735.htm December 14, 2005 -- WASHINGTON — Tomorrow is the day players signed as free agents are eligible to be traded. The Nets will do the usual homework on guys such as Houston's Stromile Swift, Chicago's Malik Allen or — a long shot — Milwaukee's Dan Gadzuric. And the Nets would listen to any feelers for the guys they signed or re-upped: Scott Padgett, Lamond Murray, Marc Jackson, Jeff McInnis and Cliff Robinson. Washington coach Eddie Jordan on Jason Kidd: "Jason Kidd is one of the top five players in the league in my book. I don't care how old he is or how slow he's getting. He wills his team. He knows how to set his team up, he knows how to set the defense. He's just a bulldog out there when it's time to win. If he's healthy, he's a guy I fear as much as anybody in the league." Jason Collins returned (16 bench minutes) after a three-game absence and admitted there was still pain in his right leg. "I feel it. It isn't like when I came back in Phoenix. It was good (then). Now, it's well enough where I can play. It isn't exactly gone like it was in Phoenix," said Collins. With Collins off the bench, Robinson remained in the starting lineup for "continuity," according to coach Lawrence Frank.
I thought VC and T-Mac were not really that close. I rather keep swift. I think he is turning the corner. Richard Jefferson is the only player that I would entertain offers for.
I would trade SWift to the nets but only if they sent Richard Jefferson back in return. THATS THE ONLY WAY. What do you guys think? Go Rockets!!!
Assuming Carter, kiid and Jefferson are untouchable, I'd only consider trading Swift for any combination of two of the following things: Krstic (could be decent pf and backup c for many years), Antoine Wright (talented but he's another swingman), a draft pick or maybe Zoran (he's supposed to be good one day right?). The rest of the Nets roster is like our roster: spare parts we don't want.
If we can't pick up someone solid, why the heck even entertain the thought? Sorry, but I can't get excited enough about the "spares parts" on another team to truly consider trade scenarios. And NJ is just that outside of Kidd, Richardson, and VC.
SWIFT FOR VC? THE NETS WOULD LAUGH THEIR ASS OFF ON THAT 1.... SWIFT FOR MARC JACKSON'S MORE REALISTIC SINCE THEY BOTH ARE PF, I HAVENT SEEN JACKSON PLAY MUCH, BUT THINK HE'S JUST AS UNDERACHIEVED AS SWIFT IF NOT WORST, GOT ONLY 5 MIN LAST NITE.
I heard Gadzuric might be available along with Earl Watson, would anybody here do a deal for for either of these two. I think Gadzuric could play PF and would be the long term backup for Yao when Deke retires, trade SS for him? Earl Watson is not getting any playing time in a crowded backcourt, trade him for DW?
Jackson is a big, lumbering center, similiar to Mark Blount with no range. He has no quickness to keep up with 4s in the West. It would be like playing Yao and Deke together.
I wouldn't mind getting Watson, and Gadzuric isn't bad but he doesn't really address our most glaring needs. I heard Antonio Daniels is available, and I would take him. Although, The Wizards want another scorer in return, and I don't know who we would give them.
Swift is such a scrub...I'd trade him for an old dog and a dozen chicken wings. First eat the wings then take the dog out back and shoot him.
http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/38323/20051215/nets_could_make_big_deal_swift_ly/ 15th December, 2005 - 6:02 am New York Post - The Nets are trying to pry Stromile Swift from Houston. They are concerned about Jason Collins and now have Marc Jackson wondering whether he'd be better off somewhere else after he was benched last night. Fun team, huh? Yesterday, multiple league sources claimed the Nets and Rockets discussed a deal involving Swift for Jackson and a first-round pick, a deal that did not interest Houston. But the Nets are expected to intensify their quest as concern grows over Collins, who will undergo additional tests on his leg today. The Nets had Swift as their second free-agent choice but after they appeared to sew up Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Swift signed with Houston. But Swift (who makes $5 million) has been a bench player, same as Jackson (who $4.55 million), who last night stayed calm and composed but was obviously upset by the DNP. "A DNP means you can't help the team. If he don't think I can help the team, then maybe get rid of me for somebody you think can," Jackson said. "I think I show every day in practice I can help this team . . . I didn't get an opportunity tonight to help the team and that hurts." [READ]
Why trade swift? He's been improving every game and he looks more and more 'with it' as time goes on. Keep Swift in Houston.
Interesting. Well I WOULD trade Swift ...if they sweeten the pot. Straight up for Marc Jackson ain't gonna do it even w/ a pick. But I don't see anything on their roster I want.
The Nets have nothing on their roster they would be willing to give up for Swift. Marc Jackson + 1st rounder isnt going to get it done for us. Jackson is more of a 5 than a "mobile 4", which really is what we need. 2 1st round picks next year would be nice to add more young talent. But 1 1st round pick + Swift already on the roster is where we are at now. No reason to change for another gamble. The Rockets arent trading Swift to the Nets.
