it's a shame that shows that thrive on hulu are up for consideration for being cancelled chuck & dollhouse etc
I love it. Unfortunately it looks like no second season but from what I've read, NBC might just burn off the rest of the season on tv. As long as I have closure, I'm cool with it.
its great show man i dont know how its flying under the radar like this, maybe its cause its on sunday nights?
NBC Cancels Kings Kings is an incredible show with intelligent story design, intense acting and a unique idea that should be allowed to thrive on network television. But like most original ideas the people just won’t show up. I’m beginning to think I waste my time getting involved in high concept shows because they don’t stick around. NBC is pulling the series from its Sunday night slot and moving it to Saturdays at 8pm starting April 18. The remaining 8 episodes that have been shot will run through to the end, and then that’s it for Kings. Sunday night’s are not a good time for NBC in general, so it appears that the network was kind of being tentative from the start. But here’s the thing: if people wanted to watch they would have, and NBC would have eventually moved Kings to a choicer timeslot. The 8pm hour on Sundays will be filled by an extra hour of Dateline going forward.
Not really suprised about Dollhouse since I heard some pretty bad review from even the fans of Joss Whedon. But Chuck is gonna get the axe? I thought it was doing well among key demographics (young male). Some shows survive because of they do well in key advertising demographics even if the overall ratings were bad.
If chuck gets the axe, there is talks that it will move to The CW. Serial shows generally do not last long. Unfortunately these are the shows that I enjoy.
Chuck was thriving long before Hulu arrived. It amazes me that they would want to axe Chuck and not Heroes. The only comedy on NBC that I would rank above Chuck is the Office. IMO they would be pretty stupid to lose that show to CW.
Chuck was not thriving really. It's an awesome show but not enough people are watching. Last episode was amazing. And us watching shows on tv won't help unless we're one of those Nielson folks. I just want quality shows on television. Is that too much to ask for?
Why can't they cancel the Simpsons and Family Guy? Simpsons stopped being funny since season 10 and Family Guy tries too hard to get references in to their punchlines. I haven't watched Kings, but if it's on CBS, ABC, or NBC and it's new and fresh, then I don't see it lasting long.
Because those shows deliver consistent ratings year in and year out. Also the fact that it's an animated show (no stars getting to old, too popular and need to leave) probably makes it a no brainer in terms of cost/rating/revenue ratio.
Well, obviously many people are Nielson folks because how else are shows getting millions and millions of viewers? I think it still matters a lot, although not as much in the past. Shows with low ratings usually get axed.
Shows like this need to either start or continue on channels like SCI FI/USA maybe even TNT The expectations are not as high MONK/Psyche/Burn Notice/Eureka/even Battle Star Galactica would not have made it on Regular TV to me Rocket River
