For those of you that like nasty fight stuffs, this is for you. Warning, it's not for everyone. http://www.mmadaddy.com/story.php?t...ly_brutal_Guillotine_choke_that_Ive_ever_seen
I doubt he'll be charged because that is part of the fight game, but I think it'll deal a minor setback to MMA and new rules would be set in place. Let's hope no such thing ever happens
A minor setback? The media would be all over it and on any slightly severe injury that occurs from then on. The public would demonstrate protests nonstop and all of MMA would have to review and revise every single hold and rule until not one was life-threatening. I have taken martial arts of all sorts my entire life and yes you get to a point where you fear your own ability to permanently injure a guy and refrain... even inhibit your aggression so you never go that far. But there are guys entering these MMA rings, especially in the lower divisions, that build up so much rage to the point they're not controlling their strength to just get the tap out or knock a guy down. I know there was a competitive match on the line, but I would have eased pressure even before the ref came in. It's hard to tell for sure, but it looks like the guy goes limp and is hopeless early yet his opponent is using all his strength into turning the neck downwards and using the pressure of his body weight to further bend him while he's against the ropes. In my opinion, it's only a matter of time before you get some uncontrollabe roid-raged kid, who thinks he can kick everyone's ass, to step into the ring and commit a really stupid accident (no matter how good the refs are trained).
I think it showed bad sportsmanship from the pitfull guy to not go ahead and throw his legs around the guy (even though the other guy was shunning him with one arm the whole time) it still wouldn't have been hard, especially when you KNOW you have it completely locked, just drop to closed guard and get the win, don't take a risk of killing the guy. Never have I tapped a guy out via guillotine while standing, ive never even given it a thought, I've always just dropped to closed guard. **** if he somehow escapes then he has one hilacious arm bar waiting.
How is that? How many deaths from boxing in the last 10 years? How about there is one last saturday http://msn.foxsports.com/boxing/story/7261024 How many more serious injuries to football players, that even led to death? MMA so far has no serious injuries nor death, and that cannot be said about boxing and football. Heck, even Baseball resulted in accidental deaths just a few months ago. So even if there is an unfortunate death in MMA, what makes you think it'll be any worse than boxing?
I didn't say he shouldn't.. I said he should have dropped to closed guard, because then if the guy did escape he could follow up with a nasty arm-bar plus you can lock it on harder and make it safer for your opponent.... If all else fails your still in closed guard on the guy and your in control. It worked this time for him, but I doubt next time he will be lucky with such bad technique. I'm sure Renzo gave him a b/tching the next day in training, even if he's pleased with the win.
