a solid shooter in the mold of a Barry, W. Person, A. Houston, or Szerbiak. Someone who's really, really, dangerous from the 3-point line. Note that the Cat is not even among the league's top 50 in 3FG% (he's shooting only 31%). That's pretty sad. Also consider that his overall FG% is only 41%; placing him well into the lower-third of the league. Bottom Line: We're not a playoff team until we've got a legitimate threat from the 2-position. This "threat" will take the heat off the double-down on Yao; plus will allow Rice to bang home threes like coming to dinner.
Mobley will begin to light it up from 3-pt range once he realizes how much space he has now that we have a tremendous post presence. Last year, he showed great improvement in his 3-pt shot. I doubt things like that just dissapear. Wait for Glen too. He's going to get better and better, especially now that we have Posey to keep him fresh.
Cat is definitely a threat from 3-point land, he just needs to realize it. I still remember that game when both he and Dickerson had something like 8 treys. It was like they were both unconscious and could not miss anymore.
What an epiphany! Our team would be better with szerbiak, houston or barry. no ****! thats like saying we would be better with kobe. alan houston is scoring like 20 a game and if szerbiak hadnt missed a lot of time with injury he would be among the lead leaders as well. you cant go around saying we would be better with this all-star or that all-star and expect to be taken seriously. everyone in the league would be better with these players.
I also forgot to add that both Cat and Franchise are playing injured right now. Cat is playing on two bad ankles (described as patatoes) and plantar thing in his feet. Franchise is playing with tendonitis in his knee. I am hoping these two guys get healthy before the playoffs so we can scare the crap out of some teams.
Meniscus, who said we're gonna be able to trade for one of these "all stars"? I'm no idiot. All I say is we need a more accurate shooter! If a guy shoots 20 times a game and hits 40% overall, that's 20% (40% / 50%) less than a good player would hit. Presume that we lose 75% of those rebounds (defensive rebounds to other team), that's like turning the ball over an extra 4 times per game! That's a lot to overcome, game-in and game-out. Maybe, just maybe, it'd be fun to try to develop Nachbar (who, I read, is a prototypical Euro-style, lights-out shooter). Plus, he's damn near 7 feet tall. Your thoughts?
My point exactly! I think this guy has all the tools of Mobley; plus he's a bit taller (yeah, like 9"). Why are they not playing him? Too much love for the Cat? Think Cat'll ever be an all-star?
http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?s=&threadid=48278 Why does every thread have to turn into a play Nachbar. Blatz
The misssing link is someone who is 7'6, who can shoot, pass, rebound and block. And Rockets alreay got him. Shrimpie
The missing link is: CONSISTENCY I understand the KT move. But leave the rest of the team alone and give them time! We dont have to win the championship this year!!! Geesh.
Really? We arent a playoff team if we dont get an amazing shooter? Oh, last I checked, we were one of the top teams in the West.
But we do have someone dangerous that can shoot on the outside... Glen Rice.. The missing link is time. When the team learns how to play together and use who they have. then we are complete.
