It seemed as though it would never happen, but we as Rockets fans are right on the brink of experiencing the true potential of this duo. Last night was the first time I could remember our two superstars both decide to take over the game TOGETHER. It's amazing....Just having these two guys on the floor can win us ball games. We as a team turned the ball over way too much and shot poorly from the outside, but it didn't matter. Yao confidently canned shot after shot, and Tracy effortlessly weaved his way through the defense and set up his team mates for easy buckets to put the game away in the 4th quarter. Sure, overall the game was ugly, but that 4th quarter was what I have been waiting for since Mcgrady was brought over here 2 seasons ago. McGrady's back troubles seem to be behind him, and he is playing his best ball since joining up with us. Yao has also battled back from his injuries, and he looks to be poised to dominate. In the history of my basketball watching days, I have never, ever seen a duo as smart, talented, and unselfish as this one. Rockets' fans, we are in for a real treat. Nothing quite like the playoffs to set the stage for the long awaited realization of the Ming-Mac potential. I'm expecting a deep run and a trip to the Western Conference finals. I think one more off season to surround these guys with the right pieces will net us a championship or two or three. What a great time to be a Houston Rockets fan. I have never been more excited about this team.
Sadly, the way this forum functions, there will probably be a "YaoMac is a bust" thread within a week. So let's enjoy the fun while it lasts.
Not really. YaoMac will not be a bust if you are real Rox fan. But I do have a concern on Rafer-Head duo which would cost us a price in the playoff.
The Yao-Mac POTENTIAL will be realized when they drop 25-30 a night each and come up in the clutch when needed. Hopefully we can expect to see that in the playoffs.
Well, it is the truth, the mood of the forum bounces up and down like a rubber ball depending on wins/losses. ...Though, I'm excited by the Yao/Mac combo, but it would take more to impress me. Like others mentioned, second round please.
I think that of any team that isn't one of the top 3 in the west, we are the most dangerous, and i think we have a good chance of going deep, as long as we dont meet the suns, (so we hope the spurs win that series) we can win in a 7 games series against any team in the playoffs on the west or east. I think Shane Battier is going to be HUGE in the playoffs, i mean imagine him taking it to the next level. I think we have a decent shot against Utah since they have very little playoff experience i think a combined 190 games of playoff experience, which at first seems like alot but Derek Fisher is 117 games 39 games by Okur where he only played about 14 minutes a game off the bench for Detroit. so thats 156 of 190 games. That means the other 10 players on the team only have a combined 34 games of playoff experience, and none as a team. I also believe that a win over Utah in the first round will give this team the confidence they need to if not beat dallas take them into 6 or 7 games, and i think in a game 7, our 2 superstars can beat their 1.
Im very very anxious to see Tracy take his game up another level in the playoffs like he did in 05. That Tracy + this years Yao = trip to WCF.
We need at least one more stable scorer. Battier? No. Howard? No, our starting is Hayes. That leaves Alston, is he? No... sadly. Just my concerns...
We don't have a third stable scorer.I think Battier,Howard, occasionally even Skip or Head can function as a third scorer but all of these guys have to step it up. Bonzi was supposed to the 3rd stable scorer but unfortunately he has been a major disappointment.
Well he need to go ABOVE that other level then because in 10 years he has not won a playoff series yet. DD
again w/ the dumb response. if he plays at his REGULAR playoff level BUT yao now takes his game to his playoff level => win. if tmac takes his game ABOVE his playoff level => u expect 33-34ppg, 8-9rpg, 8-9apg? can MJ even do that besides the points?
Please, let's not bring up this again. TMac is definitely NOT the reason why the teams he's been on have not made out of the first rounds of the playoffs.
I hope they can do 2 things in the postseason: When you are up on a team 2-0, show that killer instinct and finish them off. Continue to win on the road, but take care of home court games too. Also, if behind 0-1 or 0-2, show that killer instinct to recapture the momentum by getting tied and taking the lead in the series.
i think houston's clutch 3rd option will prove himself (whoever it maybe) in the first round.. en route to becoming the next horry (or even cassell hahah) i have a feeling it will be battier (cause he deserves the recognition). rafer is only clutch when hes lucky. luther has a lot of potentional, but this still isn't his year
