Did you guys see the rumor that Andy Katz reported:

    Miami gets:
    Damon Stoudamire, Portlands #21

    Portland gets:
Penny Hardaway, Miami's #10 and drafts Amare Stoudamire

    Phoenix gets:
    Brian Grant

This trade basically assures Phoenix a playoff spot (Marbury, J.Johnson, B.Grant and S.Marion is a playoff lineup). Phoenix makes out like a bandit. At the same time Portland doesn't lose too much to knock them out of the playoffs. Bottomline is it will make reaching the playoffs harder for the Rockets.

On a lighter note, Portland will have accomplished something that will never be done ever again: a Stoudamire for a Stoudamire trade, how rare is that!

Where'd you hear this? I've searched all over ESPN.com to no avail trying to find it.

Drafting Amare is one of the last things I'd expect the Blazers to do - they took Zach Randolph and Boumjte-Boumjte last year and still have Sheed, Davis, and Kemp; trading Stoudamire only makes their hole at the PG spot even bigger, not to mention they need another swing player.

And Miami needs an impact player - something they can't get at 21. I know Riley dislikes rookies, but getting Stoudamire really doesn't help them that much, especially for Brian Grant. Their frontcourt is already frail!

The only team I really see it happening - if true - is Phoenix. Grant is exactly the type of player they need, though big men have a tendancy to go downhill for some reason once reaching Phoenix.

    N/m....I found it.

Here's the entire "article" from a sidebar on in the draft coverage:

The late-night buzz in Chicago Friday dealt with a potential three-team trade that would certainly affect the makeup of the teams and the lottery. The rumor: Miami would send the No. 10 pick and Brian Grant to Phoenix; the Suns would ship the Heat's No. 10 pick and PG Penny Hardaway to Portland; the Blazers would send the No. 21 pick and PG Damon Stoudamire to Miami; Portland would then take Cypress Creek (Fla.) High forward Amare Stoudemire with the No. 10 pick. Here's what would make the deal possible: The Blazers do covet Stoudemire and are trying to move up in the draft, getting rid of Stoudamire wouldn't be a reach; the Suns can part with Hardaway and the Heat desperately want a veteran point guard before the draft and can't pick a point guard at No. 10. Keep an eye on these three teams over the next two weeks. ... Stanford junior center Curtis Borchardt arrived in Chicago Friday night for NBA-sponsored physicals and sounds like a player leaning toward staying in the draft. Borchardt will start working out for teams in the lottery (he worked out for the Heat in the Bay Area) the next two weeks. He hasn't signed with an agent yet but said he'll make an official announcement on his draft plans a week before the June 19 deadline. ... There is a strong possibility that high school seniors Lenny Cooke, who finally played in one game Friday after sitting out the first two games in Chicago, and DeAngelo Collins could go undrafted.

Miami will be so stupid to do this. The mighty mouse is anything but mighty, plus has all these problems with law now. Giving up a #10 and a legit big man (even though he had a bad year) for Damon is close to insane.

I can see Portlands side as building for after Kemp/D.Davis. They don't need swingmen: Patterson and Anderson are adequate. Penny is a stretch at PG, but so was the Mouse in all honesty...

This just deepens Portland's hole at pg and adds to their glut at pf.

    Damon Stoud-A-mire

    Amare Stoud-E-mire

Their last names are homophonic, but not the same.

I'm a big Grant fan, but at this point with his shaky knees, he might be damaged goods/washed up.

Nothing assures ANYONE of a playoff spot. NOTHING.

Especially when your first name is Phoenix and your last name is Suns. :)

Whats the deal with Portland loading up on all these players and playing them 20minutes a game? It will be hard for them to ever win anything.

I think Penny's a free agnet this summer!?

I think this deal satisfy all sides!Phoenix gets a monster under the board, which they search since losin' McDyess.Miami gets a good or lets say decent point guard and picks a cente with the 21 (Jamal Sampson??).Portland doesn't satisfy this dea that much. They get another 2-3,but have already good SG-SFs in Patterson,Pippen,Wells and Anderson.Penny won't get many minutes at Portland. But they grab Stoudemire at 10,who perfectly fits in their system and is a guy like Rasheed.

Yeah,I think this trade could hurt the Rox,and it seems that the East is going to be worse and the West is getting better all the time.

At number 9 or 10, Miami and phoenix could get a player to help them without trading anyone. Phoenix at 9 could take nickolz or jeffries and at 10 miami could go with the one jeffries if he's not gone, woods, or the high schooler. If Riley wants a good young pg, McInnis is out there also. This really doesn't make sense for anyone but portland. I guess phoenix isn't sold on alton ford?

Hardaway's contract runs though the end of the 2005-2006 season. Grant and Damon are both one season shorter. It looks like this trade is about filling needs and not clearing cap space.

    why maimi does this trade

THEY WANT DUNCAN. and they need to free up their long term contracts. especialy those of other big men.

they need apoint guard. damon averaged 20-10 before going to the talent stocked blazers. im sure he can regain some of that in the watered down heat.

    why portland does it

they move an unhappy damon. he is unhappy because most of the point responsibilities go to pip, who will be the official point foward next year. anderson and hardaway will play off the ball.

and knowing how portland cares about their players, they will ask penny to fill in at point as well.

they draft amere to fill CENTER needs. they dont want pf's playing center anymore. amere is 6'10" now and like eddie, may grow and inch or two.

    why phoenix does it

    c'mon guys...penny for brian grant!

Brian grant is good every other yr. One yr he's good, one he's not and has been like this his entire career.

Why is everyone so worried about getting the 8th seed in the playoffs. We should be worried about what we have to do to eventually get the 1st seed and/or the title.

If you were Jeff McInnis coming off a 500k Clippers contract, would you find the Trailblazers MCE a tempting proposition?

I realize that this is remote, but if the addition of Amare means the Blazers won't push hard to re-sign Boumtje-Boumtje I hope the Rockets give him some consideration. I know 4 centers would be alot, but Ming & Collier could play some spot PF in a version of Tall Ball.

Collier is a team option next summer and a successful Ming and Boumtje-Boumtje makes Cato Eastern Conf. trade bait.

Didn't people say that Phoenix would be a lock for the playoffs when they traded for Bo Outlaw? I think talent-for-talent the Rockets are more talented then Phoenix, even with Brian Grant. Besides, that trade probably knocks Portland OUT of the playoffs!
