I predict that, though I stated yesterday that I intended to dvd-record all four rounds, I will not get today's round recorded because I was running late this morning and didn't have time to set the recorder. Seriously, I predict Retief Goosen wins it this year.
Current futures prices after today's play to date: The Field 22.9 Singh 19.9 Woods 14.9 Mickelson 14.8 Goosen 11.9
Tiger is five strokes off the lead and Phil is four. I know they're great players, but when the leader is Vijay Singh (at -5), it's tough to make that up. I'd be intersted in seeing Vijay's record for victories/losses after taking a 5-stroke lead. Goosen, at -2 has the best chance.
I would like to see either Singh or Goosen win. Tiger winning wouldn't be a bad thing, IMO - just no Mickelson or some no-name.
There's still a LONG time to go, and Tiger has never shot a great round on Thursday, he always saves those for the weekend. You can't win the Master's on Thursday.
I'm pretty sure he went from first round lead to missing the cut with an 81. EDIT: It was 65, 83 at the Player's Championship.
Couples is -1, I like to see him do well (even if he was a little bit of a jerk when my father played wiith him). And Ben Crenshaw is -1 ... now that would be a story.
Interesting second day so far. Couples has moved into second, Vijay's made three double bogies, and Tiger just got into red figures and has a reat look at birdie on 16. Chad Champbell is the current leader at six under. I'm hoping for a Tiger/Couples final pairing on Sunday.
Sheesh - look at that leaderboard! There's no way Chad Campbell can protect four strokes over the next two rounds of golf. Knowing that..... Ernie, Phil, Vijay, Couples, Tiger, Padraig, Retief.... It's anybody's game, really. ..... And look at 54-year-old Ben Crenshaw hanging around at -1 !!!!!
Looks like the leaders might not even get on the course today. Play has been suspended for 2.5 hours already, and the rain doesn't look like it's going to let up anytime soon.
It'll be a battle today. Looks like Els and Weir are dropping out, Tiger is only 2 back. Extended coverage of the 3rd round completion is on USA this morning (now).
