    Well, I found out that since I have been with my company so long, I can get up to 6 month full pay for a long-term disability. Considering the IT job market is horrible right now and I could get laid off anyday, this sounds like a smart move for me. I can't think of much that would work though. I've had a couple herniated discs in my back for a few years, so I could get the surgery for that. The thing is, those don't cause me a whole lot of discomfort anymore, so I don't know if it would be a wise move. Any ideas?

    If you really are intending to fake an injury, or get injured just so you can go on disability, it might be best to not discuss it out in the open on the internet.

    Unless you get a severe case of carpal-tunnel syndrome.

    Yes, bragging about their crimes is how most criminals get caught.

    And fraud is a crime.

    Janice Soprano was paid disability by the state of Washington for "developing" Carpal Tunnel Syndrome resulting from operating a steammed milk machine at a Starbuck's.

    edit: The meaning behind my random post was to point out that
    Harrisment = Janice.

    That's as low as you can go on the totem pole of life.

    Harrisment,

    Do you have even an ounce of self-respect for yourself?? It is people like you that make our insurance rates higher and that leech of the system instead of adding to it.

    Then again, I truly don't blame you though. I blame the system in place that allows for this type of action.

    If there is an apple in front of an individual on a tree, he will take it. The law of unlimited wants; we all want the most while doing the least. If our system allows people like Harrisment to get away with this, then its the fault of the system.

    Wow guys....I was only kidding. I mean it doesn't sound like a bad idea, but I wouldn't really fake an injury. The back surgery is an option since medically speaking I need it, but I don't think it would be worth the pain.

    Well I already had one finger bitten off when I was a kid...I guess one more won't be a big deal :D

    I know you're kidding about the 6 month deal, but if you're thinking about back surgery and can avoid it, you should. I had a disc replacement almost 5 years ago and I'm still screwed. Sometimes I think I would have been better off not doing it. (like almost everyday)

    What makes you think they can't fire you while you're disabled.
