When interviewed (proper sitdown) by a CCTV5 reporter (Chinese Sports Channel, = ESPN ) about his injury, Yao said tthe recovery was unfortunately not going so well at the minute. He said, quote ' the front half of my left foot is numb and I can't feel anything. The operation might have damaged some nerve, which we will find out shortly. The fact that I attended 'Basketball without Border' last week didn't exactly help the matter neither (though he didn't mind doing it) My foot got swollen again and I am having to constantly putting ice on my foot and have electric treatment. (His foot was wrapped with a bag of ice when interviewed and the camera man gave quite a few extented shots of his foot and it really didn't look good.) Yao also talked about other matters like his celebrity status, playing for the natioanl team, his relationship with the media etc, etc.

I am a bit concerned now cos I am not sure Yao's gonna to have enough time to fully recovery from the operation and then get into the form needed for the start of next NBA season. Fingers crossed. Will keep updated if anything interesting happens.

i would not worry much about it. sounds like some minor post-op edema problems. nothing some Physical Therapy and range of motin excersises can't handle.

He still has three month to recover. I hope he won't come to training camp weighing 330lb.

Do you use GMT time or just local time. The local time is different for west coast, east coast, china, etc.

Maybe Yao can convince Wang Zhi Zhi to take a break from his fabulous NBA Career and take Yao's place on the Chinese National team.

Old news. That was about one week ago. The latest news is Dr Ding who performed the surgery arrived in China and checked Yao's foot. He said Yao is ahead of the curve and should be ready to practice in mid August and should be ready to play in Asian Championship Game.

Relax. Yet in other chinese reports, Yao is set to begin trainning with CNT next month. Yao cant just say I am ok, almost ready to go, then why didnt you play the tourny now going on in China, some sports azz in china might ask that.
