Shaq almost has a quadruple double, Kobe drops 30+, Fisher has a good game, Iverson doesn't have nearly the game he had in game 1, and the Philadelphia 76ers play the Lakers to a stand still on their own homecourt, with 3 games coming up in Philadelphia and Larry Brown has serverely outcoached Phil Jackson AND the 76ers had an off night from the FT line and it was still a close game. Folks this is a series. The Lakers aren't going to steamroll anybody, and this isn't the Lakers series to lose. The Lakers are going to be in for the fight of their lives, and it starts Game 3. The 76ers may or may not win this series, but they showed the Lakers are human, and are not a well oiled machine that will steamroll everybody. ------------------ "I'm not here to protect my reputation, I'm here to make my reputation! If Iverson and Bell don't clank those FT's, then Philadelphia could have definately won this game. Good series so far. ------------------ PrEsident of The Danforth Langhford FAN CLUB... He IS our future All-Star Small Forward
Some say there are no moral victories; but tonight there might have been one. This is very comparable to the game 6 the Sixers lost in Milwaukee in the way that they lost. With Shaq and Kobe both having monster games, Iverson playing subpar, and the Lakers in a must-win situation, the Sixers found a way to battle back from down 13 with six minutes to go to almost win. A great display of heart yet again by Philly. The series may be tied at 1-1, but the Sixers definitely have the mental edge. And now, all that stands between Allen Iverson and the title is winning three home basketball games with the loudest crowd in the NBA behind him. Go get 'em Answer. Don't make excuses for the sixers about their free throws because LA would have won game 1 if shaq didn't miss 12 free throws. ------------------
Don't make excuses for the sixers about their free throws because LA would have won game 1 if shaq didn't miss 12 free throws. Shaq is supposed to miss them-- you expect it. He's done it his whole career. Iverson hasn't. Big difference. ------------------ President of the Mo Taylor and Jason Collier fan club! Draftsource.net-- the premier source for draft info. I definitely think the Sixers have a lot to be happy about coming off of these two in L.A., even though they only won 1. ------------------
And now, all that stands between Allen Iverson and the title is winning three home basketball games with the loudest crowd in the NBA behind him Why would the Sacramento fans be cheering for Iverson? ------------------
Silly Stat : Since the inception of the 2-3-2 format in the finals in '85, seven teams have earned a split on the road like ther Sixers just did. Five went on to lose the series. ------------------ "I always thought it was something that went around my house" - World B. Free on Defence
The road team is always going to be at a disadvantage in the 2-3-2 format. The road team has never won all 3 games at home. The format seriously sucks -- makes no sense.
None of this matters. The team with the best big man and the best two-guard in the game will take this series. That's right, Dikembe Mutombo and Allen Iverson are going to lead the Sixers to three straight at home! ------------------ "Rarely is the question asked: Is our children learning how to put food on their family while being put to death." Iverson is probably the best two guard now, but no way is Mutombo better than Shaq. ------------------

I believe the format rewards the away team more. I prefer the 2-2-1-1-1 format. BTW, this makes 6 of the last 8 teams that have earned a split on the road that went on to lose the series. ------------------ "I always thought it was something that went around my house" - World B. Free on Defence
I don't understand the 2-3-2 format. Has it got something to do with the media? The 2-2-1-1-1 is far more competitive. ------------------ Protrolls.com! Soon to be ProPorn.com!
It's all about traveling. Flying isn't that much of a problem between teams in the same conference, but in this series. In the finals, teams would be flying from coast to coast every few days. I think that's why they change the format for the finals... ------------------ Beauty, was the allure that brought me close to you, Loneliness, was the bond that made me stick like glue, All fantastic images, they only are apparent, Promoted by desperate hope, That things are somewhere better.
