With the veritable plethora of Kobe (to Rox?) Threads, here's one more: my muse is what would (have) happen(ed) if Kobe came to the JVG coached H-Townians?

It took TMac time to get in the same book, if never quite the same page, as Coach Tight Gundy. Kould Kobe have ever reached a playing equilibrium with Van Gee?

It would have been high theatre and made the Rox relevant. At least.

It only took Tmac about 2 months to get going under JVG, and TMac is known to be a slow starter anyway. JVG would have let Kobe do his thing, there is no doubt that Kobe would be even more dominante than Tracy on that pick and roll, because Kobe actually wants to shoot and make. He can take over a game like that. Kobe-Yao p&r >>>>>>>>>>> TMac-Yao P&r.

Kobe is also a better defender than TMac, he at least plays defense 48 mins, unless Tracy, who will occasionally guard the other team's best player in the 4th quarter.

I don't believe TMac and JVG ever cohabitated offensively. He may have been turned loose, but within a tight, non-varying structure.

I believe KB is much more aggressive than TMac and would have contested JVG for a more Kobe friendly offensive system.

Does it really matter? The Rox need to be "relevant", by winning, not putting on some reality show on the court.
