Isn't it cute how the Knicks are trying to unload Eddy Curry? They ordered him to Vegas, put on a workout in front of media members: oh he's got a new body, he's lost 50 pounds, he's dunking the ball and running the floor. Translation: please take him off our hands, Zach Randolph got traded again, why won't any of you trade for Curry.
that explains the recent article about him losing weight, he still has a horrible attitude and low iq, screw curry
Curry also was quoted as saying he wants to "Dominate". Question is how does a guy who averages 5.3 RPG dominate, Franchise averaged 5.6 a game and he was a PG. The Knicks are stuck with him no matter how hard they try to trade him.
here's a link for those who are interested: http://blogs.nypost.com/sports/knicks/archives/2009/07/curry_i_will_pr.html according to this article, he's lost 30 lbs. as the original poster said, the knicks are being transparent about their intentions to showcase and trade him. every time i say that there isn't a team idiotic enough to take a chance on a player like this, but occasionally i am proved wrong (damn you clippers and grizzlies!)
well, i think the curry hate is probably just a little overboard. I'd definitely agree that he is generally a lazy, low motor, low iq, bad attitude player. that said, as bad as his contract used to look, it only has 2 years left now at around $11 million a season. as bad as his play has been - he's an exceptionally poor rebounder and defender for a guy his size, he does at least give you "something" - when healthy = 13+ ppg, 5+ rpg, shooting 54% or better. considering the lack of centers in the nba - quality or otherwise - i could see someone picking him up if the KNicks make the package enticing for other reasons (draft picks, a young player, etc.)
The only desperate team I could think of is possibly the Cavs until they shipped off Ben Wallace for Shaq.
You're almost certainly right, given that all quality teams have better options already in their frontcourt and all bad teams don't want to take on the 2 year contract. But just saying, you never know....and I don't think it is so much about Curry and what he brings to the table as opposed to his contract.
It's too bad the Jazz own the rights to the Knicks 2010 pick (or is it a Phoenix pick..I can't understand fully - see: http://www.***************/Story.asp?story_id=7826) If the Knicks unprotected 2010 pick was up for grabs, and the Rockets had no other options (no other T-Mac trade possiblities, looking like next seasons salary cap will be really low so don't even have the room for a big name FA signing if they do nothing), something like the following wouldn't be completely horrible: Rockets Trade: T-Mac, Lottery Protect 2010 1st Rounder Rockets Receive: Curry, David Lee (+/- $8 million per), Steve Blake, Rudy Fernandez, Knicks unprotected #1 in 2010 Knicks Trade: Curry, Lee, Duhon, 2010 1st rounder Knicks Receive: T-Mac Blazers Trade: Blake, Fernandez Blazers Receive: Duhon, Rockets Protected 2010 First Rounder or some three team deal. But the only way I could see the Rockets taking back all that salary, even if you really like David Lee, as I do, would be by also getting another lottery pick - which apparently the Knicks have already traded away...
Someone (Chad Ford?) created a statistic that measures everything a player contributes besides scoring. It was called the Curry line for a reason. Scoring 13 pts doesn't matter when you don't play defense and you rebound so poorly that your opponent has so many attempts he ends up going 20 on you. There's a lot of centers out there, the main reason they aren't on NBA rosters is because most teams would rather have tweeners that contribute over big men who just stand there doing nothing. I don't think the Knicks will find any suitors for Curry unless they make that offer really enticing. If they give us wilson chandler, the big man they drafted and a lottery pick next year if I were DM I'd trade Tmac for curry
I hope the Rockets don't get him. He doesn't seem like a dominant center. __________________________ "H-Town pride from the Southside!!!"
http://busersports.com/apps/curry-line/ That was Matt Buser (former Yahoo fantasy basketball analyst who was laid off and now runs his own fantasy bball site) who created the Curry Line. It was a small tool to use for fantasy basketball, which took (steals + blocks + assists)/turnovers. Basically in fantasy basketball people tend to overrate points and rebounds. Curry rates very poorly using this measure, in fact his Curry ratio is below 1.
Remember when the Bulls drafted Curry and traded Elton Brand for Chandler (or did they draft Chandler and trade for Curry?) and we all thought they were going to be beasts in a few years? hahahaha. The baby Bulls! hahaha.
This is no news. They've been trying to trade him for a long time. If Curry plays well enough to be considered a living human being, Donnie Walsh will find someone to take him off their hands this season.
