Kind of like when Democrats called the 2016 Presidential illegitimate and was the product of Russian collusion with the Trump campaign and that all turned out to be a giant nothing burger. I don't know what evidence, if any, will emerge from this impeachment inquiry but Hunter Biden being paid millions of dollars, while bringing no obvious skills, by foreign companies while Joe was VP is obviously suspect as hell.
I think every person elected to office should immediately face an impeachment inquiry. Don't need actual evidence of an impeachable offense, since it's simply investigation of if there is a high crime. Shoot everyone running for office should welcome such an inquiry if they didn't do anything wrong. Of course we shouldn't expect our government to function during each of these inquiries. But many supporting these inquiries seem to think we shouldn't have a functioning government anyway.
An Impeach inquiry is an investigation into matters of interest to the investigative body. They will have various tools with which they can investigate matters including subpoenaing documents and records and asking people to testify before them. "Impeaching" someone is the process of filing formal articles of impeachment. The distinction is like investigating someone vs. formally charging someone in terms of criminal law.
If your son gets hired by a foreign company and paid millions of dollars while you happen to be VP without any reasonable explanation then I agree an investigation should take place. How does one not look at that and think its shady as hell and should be looked into?
Honestly, Burisma sounds like a pretty dumb company to hire the dumb son of the vice president. Talk about not getting any real return on investment; they should've kept an honorary board seat open for Malia Obama or Barron Trump.
I know you're being sarcastic, but I agree anyway. The reasonable explanation is that the son is a lawyer who went to elite law school, works for a prestigious law firm, has great political and business connections, and specializes in board governance, an area of their company they feel they need to improve if they're going to join the Western economy after years of Russia-oriented corruption. Not denying that Hunter Biden was a flawed candidate for a board member in some ways, but people keep exaggerating the claim that he lacked the bonafides for this job and hope that people will buy it if they repeat it enough times (which seems to be working because I am the only person who knows Hunter's resume).
This is not a matter of "according to whom" but rather adhering to a basic evidentiary standard. Any investigation should begin with a credible accusation, not just vague suspicion. I understand determining credibility involves some subjectivity, which is reasonable. However, there is a major difference between clear evidence like a recording potentially showing quid pro quo versus merely suspicious activities that might be connected. I have serious concerns about lowering the impeachment standard to ambiguous suspicions. When you weaken standards at the highest levels of government, it justifies similar behavior at every other level. (Trump's conduct while in office exemplifies the deterioration of standards within Republican leadership, which trickled down through the party and broader society.) I certainly oppose the idea that impeachment inquiries should be initiated solely by popular demand, without actual evidence. That risks reviving the uglier periods where mob justice and trials prevailed based on whims rather than facts. This was an ugly chapter in our history that I do not wish for us to revisit. Any potential benefits of investigating vague suspicions in hopes of uncovering misconduct do not outweigh the harms of constant partisan impeachment crusades and a culture of probing based merely on shifting public opinion.
Then you would agree that Kush getting billions for the Saudis and Ivanka getting copyright deals while her dad was in office and on an official trip got is just as bad as Hunter lying on form and having an unloaded gun for a few weeks are kind of the same thing? They have investigated Hunter for 5 years and this is it?? I will tell you the big difference, any person with a reasonable head on their shoulders thinks Hunter should go to jail if he broke the law, no one is above the law, I don't let politics get in the way of what's right, no one is above the law, not presidents or there kids I dont remember the Dems storming the capital and trying to overthrow an election either.....hmmmmm Gee, Wonder Why Mohammed Bin Salman Personally Intervened to Give Jared Kushner $2 Billion https://www.rollingstone.com/politi...rabia-investment-mohammad-bin-salman-1335649/
As usual, you can only bring innuendo and NO facts, back it up and maybe the media would look at it, until then you are just posting gossip.....drink that maga kool aid baby. Maybe one day when you have facts you can have a real conversation
Hunter Biden is a graduate from Yale Law, is a lawyer, and has had various roles throughout his career including executive VP of a major bank, a director at the US Department of Commerce, co-founding a multiple firms, and being an hedge fund and venture capitalist investor. He also served on the board of directors for a charity for 4 years and for a private equity fund for multiple years. I don't think a Yale Law graduate, a lawyer, and a businessman who has served on the boards of multiple firms qualifies as having or bringing "no obvious skills" to the table as a member of the board of any company, including Burisma Holdings. There are press reports and claim made (based on press reports as far as I can tell), but nothing yet that verify how much Hunter Biden was paid by Burisma Holdings. The claim of millions can't be assumed to be true at this time.
Actually the first impeachment of Trump was very narrowly focused and didn’t even address issues with the 2016 election and certainly not actions while Trump wasn’t President. In fact Pelosi resisted calls to impeach Trump earlier from parts of her party and many felt she waited too long while also ignoring things like possible emoluments violations.
