Premise : boy hands mother a gift, mother loves gift, boy wonders what else he didn't know about mother, imagines mother as a break dancer. I have several beefs with this particular line of advertising. 1.) The woman has no idea what is in the box. She thanks the son repeatedly and says it was "just what she wanted" Hello? you didn't even open the package you stupid b****. The only clue she could have possibly had is that it was from Best Buy. How can she make the then mental leap that anything from Best Buy will be just what she wanted? Are you telling me she would have been just as content with Season 2 of "Life According to Jim" as she would have with a Blu-Ray player? The reasoning this woman displays is ridiculous, and could lead to grevious future errors in judgment. 2.) The boy concludes that if since his mother liked the very ambiguous gift, there must be other things he does not know about her. He then pictures her as some crazy break dancer from a previous decade. How would a revealed fondness for electronics possibly lead to a presumption of these proportions? 3.) The Ad clearly states at the end "mom always loves electronics" This is just getting silly now. How many times do you go over to your mom's house and see her rocking out on her ipod or doing some hardcore gaming? My mom doesn't even know how to get on the internet. Most of our mothers are hosting tupperware parties, not Halo parties. **** you Best Buy, Your advertisement claims are ridiculous.
Yea that was pretty r****ded, after seeing it I thought to myself hmm my mom doesn't like electronics what bull****.
Didn't thy have this same moronic premise a few years ago witht he salesman having bizarre fantasies about customers that made no sense, and were really in no way off putting, and then being visibly disgusted witht he customers later? F-k, f-k you Best Buy for being so illogical and stupid. It's not even low brow stupid like a bunch of dumbass beer commercials. It's just dumb dumb Edit: yeah we're not the only ones to notice: http://www.awfulcommercials.com/archives/category/video/national/best-buy/
seriously! when he *presumes* that there's something else he doesn't know about her, why does he suddenly imagine the break dancing thing? was it just his imagination, or was she really a break dancer in the 80's??? ARRRRGH. i'm glad you feel the same way about dumb commercials.
Oh god, I totally forgot... I was going to mention this one too. <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/MonfGrOgg0o"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/MonfGrOgg0o" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object> No analysis needed. It's just... stupifying.
Yeah this one is stupid to put on the air also. -Why the hell would she get mad if they took the kayak out? -Picking up a wolf with your imagination and putting it on your friends kayak. - What does this have to do with buying a Jeep?
i hate those Hyundai adds where they compare it to the Land Rover and Lexus...they mention all the similarities between their car and the Land Rover and Lexus except for the fact that the Land Rover has more cup holders and Lexus can park by it self....they fail to mention that the Land Rover and Lexus get you laid, while Hyundai does not...
