THE I SUPPORT VAN GUNDY FAN CLUB

Well! Everything need balance. If there is a hate thread there need to be a love thread.

I support Van Gundy! I think he did a right thing. He need to point out the weakness of the team. He is responsible for the team plan and if the players did not played as plan, that player need to change.
He choose to be tough on the players. That is his style.
Rudy was not tough and used motivation but it did not yield the good result.
Since Rudy's way did not work, it is logical to try a new way.

Count me in. The team needed a change. Larry Brown was my personal first choice but I'm onboard with JVG.

I agree. I loved rudy and think he was a good coach with us when we had players like Hakeem that would listen and try to get better.

But we needed to have someone like jVG come in and really give the team a kick in the butt. I mean these players got babied all the time by Rudy and let them just play and JVg calling out the team is going to make them respond and actually play. They are professionals for a reason and need to live up to it.

I dont know if anybody noticed but our opponents points scored has dropped lower every game so far this preseason. Is it coincidence or not? I'd like to think the players are slowly adapting to his style of hard-nosed defense that will eventually lead to easy baskets. The ball-handling will improve the longer they play with each other in the new offense. They were also able to keep the hornets under 90 points who have been scoring about 100 points a game in the preseason.

Those are just some of my silver linings I've seen so far in the preseason. ;)

I think both the ridiculous "I hate van Gundy" thread and this one here should be closed, in order to keep the level of discussion in the GARM at least on a somewhat respectable level.

I only support him and Cd if they upgrade the team with a trade. If they stand pat I will not like JVG.

    WELCOME TO THE ASYLYUM, JVG.

We've been watching and enduring all the problems he is willing to discuss openly for the last four years. Let's see if he can wrest control from the inmates. IMHO, he is a perfect choice to do so.

    It's gonna be interesting................;) ;) ;)

Count me in as well. I think the team needed a change. In "time" JVG will get this team playing well. They just need a little tough love right now.

Give the guy a chance -- we haven't been in the playoffs for a while -- we have been underachieving.

I'll give him till midseason -- then I 'll join the club

I wanted Larry Brown. I was pretty vocal about it.

But VG isn't so bad. At least he's talking about accountability. The team could really be more than the sum of its parts if the players would buy in and run offensive schemes, defensive schemes. If the resistance continues, I can't blame JVG. I have to blame the losers who can't run a pick and roll, can't run back down the court after a miss, can't screen, can't deliver the ball to the open man, can't help. Throw the offenders in the firey furnace. You don't salve an afflicition of demons; cast them out; and send them to burn.

Hope the two come together and get it done this year.

Yep --- I'm all about JVG. The weekend he visited Houston, still deciding between us and the Wizards----well, I had trouble sleeping I was so nervous. It's like we were asking out a cheerleader to the prom. (maybe not head cheerleader--L Brown--but still a hot leggy blonde).

I do agree with MacBeth that airing the dirty laundry is somewhat distasteful. That's my only issue. Even that, though, I attribute to JVG's brutal honesty, not some kind of nefarious motivational tactic (a la John Lithgow).

I'm not sweating the 4 pre-season losses. Not one bit. At some point, you knew this Rocket team would go through adversity. At some point there would be a losing streak. Better to get that nastiness out of the way right now then go into the season untested.

    We'll be fine.

rudy was to the rockets what mack brown is to the longhorns. a player's coach. it works if your players are good enough to win on their own but once word gets out that youre soft players arent going to listen to you.
