You'll never convince him to come to the NBA, but I would love to see Bobby Knight as coach of the Rockets. The immaturity of our "superstars" like Steve and Eddie would be the perfect situation for his hard nosed style. There is also no arguing that he knows the game and can be a winner. Also, there is tremendous publicity for the Rockets for even attempting it. I know it probably wouldn't work out, and that he won't come to the NBA, but it is kind of fun just to think about it.
"Hell, I don't even watch the pros. If the NBA was on Channel 5 and a bunch of frogs making love were on Channel 4, I'd watch the frogs--even if they came in fuzzy." - Bobby Knight, on what he thinks about pro basketball...
If Knight became the Rockets coach these things would happen.. 1) After one practice Francis and Mobley would demand trades. 2) Coach Knight would chase Moochie around the court cracking him with a whip if he dribbled the ball for more than 5 seconds. 3) Cato and Knight would have a personality clash and Cato would end up getting DNP'ed for the rest of the season. Cato wouldn't mind. 4) Rice would fake an injury. 5) Mo Taylor would start binge eating and develop an eating disorder so he could sit out the rest of the year. 6) Ming, Hawkins, and Nachbar would flourish and play some outstanding ball on a team with a record of 22-60. 7) We would attract 0 free agents at the end of the year. As much as it would be worth to see #2 happen, I'll pass.
I acknowledged that it probably wouldn't work out and that you couldn't get him to come to the NBA anyway. I guess I could have posted another rediculous trade thread or a bash Mobley thread, as those are always well received, buit variety is the spice of life.
Any time I see this name, I can't get the image out of my head of him biting on that stupid towel doing games.
Are you serious about Knight or are you just trying to get a reaction? The sad part is, Knight might actually be good for Mobley and Francis but what I'm afraid of is what Knight will do to Yao. Yao doesn't need the extra stress. Caption: Insane Man
Okay, I was wrong about Van Gumby. I would rather see him coach the Rockets than the egomaniac known as "Hey" Knight.
I absolutely cannot stand Bob Knight. Being passionate about your job is one thing, but damn, going nuts on your players is another. Thank Lawd that he isn't going to get a job in the NBA anytime soon. Cod
Knight is eventually going to curse out and scream at the wrong guy and he's going to get his ass kicked. I'm sure he's worried about getting Sprewell-ed.
Oh, here is another issue. College basketball season lasts around 27 games... The NBA regular season is three times as long. Can you imagine...
Why would Nachbar and Hawkins flourish? If they could flourish under Knight, they should have been flourishing in practice and earning time on the floor. I know it's hip to bash Rudy, but how can people honestly believe that he'd keep Boki and Hawkins from playing serious minutes if they were good players?
I think he'd be an awful NBA coach plus nobody would want to play for him and you wouldn't be able to attract free agents. I think he'd be a great advisor or assistant in some capacity. Our team could benefit a lot from his knowledge of the motion offense but Knight's ego is way too big to stay behind the scenes.
I'd like to see Knight coach the Sixers. Him going head-to-head with Iverson might open up a rift in the space-time continuum. Kind of a "matter meets anti-matter" kind of thing.
