    where do i begin.

    1) they're from dallas
    2) they got the calls in 04 from donaghy
    3) dirk is a flopper. he should play on the jazz
    4) did i mention they're in dallas?
    5) cuban (great owner) poor fan
    6) they think the W and that area of downtown > anywhere else
    7) AAC < toyota center

there are 2, and only 2 things dallas is better than houston at.

    1) HOV/mass transit options
    2) film/television options....

    houston is improving ;)

start with Mark Cuban and its all downhill from there.

The Rockets have the most hardcore fanbase of any sports team in Houston. Its smaller than the Texans or the Astros yes. But the dedicated Rockets fans are nut cases, in a good way...

The Mavs are the complete opposite. Those fans are one big pool of bandwagoners. Ask them about their history. About Mavs' teams of the past. What players hold the Maverick records. Generally speaking they have no clue.

Yet Mavs sell out every game and Rockets can't pay to get people in their seats. Don't forget the 2 Mavs fans shops they have in the city. Rockets couldn't even keep the one they had in Memorial City Mall going, and that was right after the Championship season.

I lived up near that way in the 90's. You couldn't give Mavs tickets away. If that team puts together a string of first round exits and near misses to the playoffs, I promise you that place won't be packed.

    Having a team store??!! Please.

How in the world can any of you guys hate on a contender that goes out of its way to shoot itself in the foot? I mean, you should all be giggling at the gross display of stupidity they just unleashed this past season: the trading for an aging PG who gets owned in the playoffs, the flaming out (again) in said playoffs, the making their head coach the scapegoat for the mistakes of management (also known as the Les Alexander maneuver) and finally the hiring Rick Carlisle as their head coach (I mean come on: Rick Carlisle? - that has to have the rest of the Western Conference shaking in their boots...with laughter). It's as if Carroll Dawson were the GM up here reliving the 2001 NBA draft...

I'm asking you: who can hate watching that?

It has a lot to do with the arrogance of Dallas in general. Very snooty, and it translates to their fanbase. Dallas is very bandwagon. I came up here for a Rockets game in '97 and we bought tickets at the gate. There were almost as many Rocket fans there as Mavs fans.
