That half time show was pretty lame for a super bowl halftime show. Paul is a great artist but me and my friends thought it was pretty boring.
I must say that you and your friends are out of date...Paul is the next BIG thing! If you didn't hold a candle or lighter during halftime..your no good
Have some respect for a living legend for cryin out loud. And one that supported us immensely after 9/11.
I'm 27, have never really been a McCartney fan (due to be a little too young for when he was more popular), and am more of the hip-hop crowd; but I thought the halftime was great. It's always great to hear "To Live and Let Die"
I'm not a Paul McCartney fan. Add I've never liked Superbowl half-time performances. I must say that I thought McCartney's performance was probably the best half-time show I'd ever seen. Sounded good. Looked good. Didn't look like a half-time show. Looked like a good music concert. It was certainly better than last year's... or the year before... or the year before... -- droxford
They should have just make that GoDaddy girl run around the stadium. Now THAT would have been something.
The best halftime show ever was U2 in 2002, but this has got to be second on my list of all-time best. It was great that they just let McCartney go up there and rock in a traditional concert format - no gimmicks, no bull****. His drummer smoked.
My 2 cents: I am a McCartney die-hard, and was expecting him to embarass us die hards, as he often does on national TV, with over-schmaltz or hamming it up. But I thought he was tasteful and good. He was obviously singing, sounded great (on Get Back especially), and played four songs. Hey Jude - in my opinion the most profound and gorgeous pop song ever written - was shortened but good; the atmopshere was good for zillions of people singing the fadeout. He did us diehards proud, which is not often the case. For those who know the Beatles but not solo Paul McCartney, try: Band On the Run McCartney For those who don't know the Beatles - has that sentenced ever been typed before? - try "The Beatles" (plain white album) "Revolver" "1967-1970" (compilation) Paul McCartney is the most effortless melody-writer ever, and he can rock fairly well. But he has an over-the-top cheese factor which obscures his best lyrics and turns some of his best songs to mush. But if you skim the best of his solo career, it's pretty damned good. He was a good pick, just because if anyone in the world would treat The Super Bowl as just another gig, it's Paul. Totally unintimidated, no "this is MY moment!" Just Paul goofing around, having fun at a football game - unlike U2, who were totally incongruous to the rest of the event. Thanks for doing us fairly proud, Paul, A - minus.
Agreed completely. ...Except for the nu-metal drummer, man...what are you thinking? I actually mentioned to my buddy about how the best half time show was the one where Bono just absolutely worked the crowd a couple years ago. Very moving, and I don't even like U2.
Hey, the drummer played his ass off no matter if he did look like a gang member. The U2 thing was a perfect example of a great rock band at the top of its game playing at a pivotal moment and completely understanding the true nature of entertaining. They not only killed musically, but they delivered a sincere and heartfelt performance to a country that really needed it. I am maybe the least flag waving, sappy, sentimentalist when it comes to that sort of thing, but that was magical. Interesting that the two best performances, by far, at the Super Bowl, the biggest American sports spectacle, were by bands not from the US.
that's guy's been on tour with Paul the past couple of years... Abe Laboriel, Jr - he toured with Paul in '02.
Most Hip Hop Artist don't lipsync leave that to POP artist This was a pretty boring halftime Rocket River
