Bill Walker was once a top flight / lottery prospect before suffering an ACL injury. He appears to be all the way back from it, and I am surpised how far his stock has dropped. For your viewing pleasure http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4sSsOtnku8M He reminds me, even though I hate his guts, of Jerry Stackhouse. Strong mid range game, great finisher, and has some upside when it comes to range shooting and ball handling. He should be there at 25...... IMO, with Batum's heart problems and CDR's whispy frame, I think BW would be a great choice for us if we keep the pick and use it to acquire some wing help.
he may have upside, but again, we're in win now mode. walker would take too long to develop. like rush, people are intrigued too much with his athleticism and not concerned enough with his lack of present tools. ball handling, shooting ability, ability to create offense...its not there. he's a more athletic bonzi wells IMO. he's gritty and is best inside 15 feet. a good rebounder for his size/position, but i dont think you can count on him to put us over the hump. at 25, we have to look for pieces, not individuals.
If he falls to the second round, I might think about buying a pick to get him. But I wouldn't spend the 25 on him.
Batum doesn't have a heart problem. http://www.draftexpress.com/article/Word-on-the-Street-Rounding-Up-2940/ CDR is not exactly wispy. Rush may be weak moving with the ball but he is great at moving without the ball and is a quality spot up shooter. Where on the current roster would Walker fit? Behind Scola and Landry?
I was very high on him until I heard about the most recent injury. He's putting off surgery, apparently. I'm sorry, but so many knee injuries in such a short time is just too much of a concern, even for a good player like him.
