Just rewatched the remastered extended edition of this last night. I consider it the greatest movie ever made and I never get tired of watching it. I'm not a fan of westerns but this movie transcends it's genre. Probably my favorite character is Tuco, played by Eli Wallach. It's hard not to like that guy. Just wondering if there's any other fans of this movie here, and if you haven't seen it, you definitely should!
I love this movie and all of the old Clint Eastwood westerns. I'm not a fan of westerns in general but I love those spaghetti westerns for some reason.
Of course! Whenever these "favorite movie" threads pop up, TGTB&TU is always at the top of my list. There are soooooo many great scenes. These are my favorite three scenes: - Tuco running through the graveyard with "The Ecstacy of Gold" blaring in the background. - Blondie offering Tuco his cigar after witnessing the incident with his brother. - Tuco's bath.
You mean Tuco Benedicto Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez (known as 'the rat') Actually, my handle on other locations in the web is Arch Stanton. It's one of my favorite movies.
Man, I haven't seen this version yet. I'm going to go buy it today. I'm a huge fan of Clint's. I think Unforgiven is one of the finest movies ever made. Has Eastwood chosen to give it the same treatment? It's perfect, really, but you have to wonder if some of it had to be cut because of time considerations.
I grew up watching those movies because we didn't have live TV and no new movies in Africa. Those movies bring back great memories. It is in my top 10 of favorite all time movies. I think I have seen it 15-20 times over my lifetime (24yrs old) and never get tired of it. Clint Eastwood is off the hook! I love the music in the movie and the irony/satire that is used.
It's my favorite movie too along with Apocalypse Now and Das Boot, really can't pick between the three, they are my favorite movie.
what's wrong with this place? you talking about the restaurant on Shepherd and I-10, right? I just ate there a few days ago.
That's Spaghetti Warehouse - downtown hear UHD. They're talking about a different restaurant named Spaghetti Western. It's on Shepherd, near I-10.
It's not even my favorite western (probably El Dorado) but it is good for a Clint Eastwood movie. Clint is just not the Duke.
Another outstanding western. Terrific cast. Heck, if there was an extended version of that flick, it'd be an all night affair just to watch it. Underrated, imo.
Clint was spectacular in those films. But if you like spaghetti westerns for what they are beyond Clint Eastwood, allow me to recommend.... Once Upon a Time in the West. The last great spaghetti western, it's a spectacular film. Unfortunately, they were unable to get Eastwood to fill the main role, but Charles Bronson does a fine job. Man with no name: And Frank? Snaky (one of three men): Frank sent us. Man with no name: Did you bring a horse for me? Snaky: Well... looks like we're... [snickers] Snaky: ...looks like we're shy one horse. Man with no name: ... .... ...You brought two too many.
Yeah, not to derail this thread, but I'm talking about the restaurant on Shephard near I-10. And they have the posters from a bunch of spaghetti westerns, so it relates. kinda
MAN, I leave out a -> <- and everybody goes crazy. Sheesh, people. Sorry! Next time I will make sure you know I'm kidding...
