"James (Detroit): Dave, what teams in the league do you see having the most promising future (consider everything, like salaries, cap room, players age, etc.)

David Aldridge: (7:08 PM ET ) San Antonio has a great future. The Spurs have cap room, Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and players that accept their roles. Detroit has a good young nucleus and a chance to take a potential franchise center in Milicic. Assuming the Nets keep Kidd, New Jersey is in very good shape for the future, with Martin and Jefferson. I think Phoenix has a chance to be a real player in the next few years once it gets a couple of big contracts off the books and can add around Marbury and Stoudamire." From ESPN Chat 3599

If we keep this team and everything stays pretty constant...do we have as much potential to win as the Phoenix Suns or more? I know the Spurs and Pistons have a very good future. But isn't Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley, and Yao Ming better than Stephon Marbury, Shawn Marion, and Amare Stoudemire??? :(

Plus we should be getting a better coach than Frank Johnson.

I think we can win a championship within 5 years...NO RESPECT!

We're still one trade away. Phoenix is set. They need some help at C which can be found anywhere. Their backcourt works GREAT together, and feed their PF at the right place and time. Their SF feasts off everyone's mistakes, and absolutely wipes every mistake clean. In the process, he's become a 20/10 player who's great at defense and has a dramatically improving jumpshot. Oh, and they're all locked up (contract wise).

We still need a disciplinarian to come in here and teach everyone their role.

As much as it pains me to say this, I think Aldridge is right. Obviously there are a few good young teams that he left off, most notably Houston. But as easy as it is to dislike Phoenix, they do have a very good young nucleus and now have playoff experience all this while being strangled by almost 20 Million dollars committed to dead weight in Gugliotta and Penny. Aldridge is right, once those contracts come off the books, they will have money to burn.

This link was in the other folder and I was shocked to see Phoenix so low.

Anyways, I think the national media may see Houston in a state of limbo with a new coach and a new system coming to town. That’s my only explanation. The Rox have most of the pieces, we just need to find where they all fit.

Can someone explain to me exactly what this team has done to earn any respect from the national media? This "woe is me" crap from some of my fellow Rockets' fans is really getting tired.

Rane makes some good points here. Houston right now is a big X factor with an unknown new coach coming in. No matter who the new coach is, the Rockets will have to finally offer some concrete proof that they are a team that can play sound fundamental basketball offensively and defensively before anyone can get a handle on how they'll fare in the tough Western Conference.

At this point, you'll have to agree that Phoenix has moved past Houston. The big question in my mind is whether Seattle and Golden State will pass Houston as well. Utah appears poised to move down with the dismantling of the old Stockton-Malone clique. All things remaining equal, that leaves Houston, GS & Seattle to contend for their spot.

If the coach is Van Gundy, he'll be under pressure to install an offensive system that can succeed in this conference. This is one area where Dunleavy has an advantage over VG as MD has coached in this conference before. VG is a peerless defensive coach but his Knick teams were godawful to watch. Bad basketball has been the hallmark of this team for the last 4 years and that's the first thing that has to change under the new regime.

Aldridge is just giving his opinions of up coming teams.

He's always been like that ("What have you done for me lately?). No biggie.

Remember, the Rockets haven't been in the playoffs for a while. So, it's not about "getting respect." It's about EARNING RESPECT. We haven't earned it yet.

Once the Rockets make it to the playoffs and show their stuff. Aldridge will be riding Yao and Francis's jock! You wait.

In about a month you have posted over 400 times, that's an average of a little over 13 posts a day.

Most of these are just repeating what others already said or a one word post like this one.

Quality not quantity is the best option.

Practice it and you shall go far anywhere in life.

By the time Phoenix's bad contracts come off the books. They will have other contracts that will take there place.

I think that Houston will have a much better team then Phoenix starting at the end of next season.

And there is no doubt that they will be a higher seed then Phoenix at that time.

Seriously guys...Unless you happen to live in NY, L>A., or Chicago, fans of every other city all think that there's a massive conspiracy of disrespect. Suppose you're in Sacramento...aren't you railing about not being included? Who's their oldest player outside Vlade? Webber? He's what, 28...30?

Or what about Orlando? Possibly the best player in the game, a great young pf in Gooden, a few other solid young players, p[ossibly the best young coach in the game, a city that players want to go to, and a ton of cap space coming up...

Or the Bulls....or the Grizz....or the Nuggz...or the Cavs...etc. All arguably lower than Houston, but if you were their fans, would you think so? Or would you be singing the same tune, just with different lyrics?

I live in Toronto...and consider this when you want to talk about being screwed over:

For the 1st 5 years (!?!?!) of their existence, they were intentionally denied access to the no. 1 pick, despite often having the worst record in the game...this has never happened before, and will, as the Char. details come out, seem likely to never happen again. They actually won the Iverson toss, but were passed over. And, what's more, the best ownership group in the city saw their bid turned down merely because they wouldn't agree to this condition, , as they saw it contrary to the spirit of the lottery. So the NBA gave the Toronto franchise to a lesser team...who after a few years screwed things up,and sold out to...you guessed it...the team who the NBA passed over because of the lottery dispute.

So then they get possibly the most exciting player to come into the game in years, in Vince carter...and he is coupled with his cousin, and that steller and incredibly young duo push the Rocks to the playoffs in only their second year together...and what happens? T_Mac leaves the team, and admits that there was a lot of pressure from marketing aspects, American fans, etc. for him to return to the USA...and the next year everybody and their brother urges Carter to follow suit, and Peter Vescey makes a weekly proclamation on the NBA broadcast that Carter's leaving Canada...and Carter admits that he is getting the same imense pressure from the same sources that T_Mac got, and then some...and decides to stay anyway...and whattya know? His stock plummets, and suddenly everyone's a critic.

And then there's the lottery. EVERY YEAR OF THEIR EXISTENCE THE RAPS HAVE GOTTEN A LOWER LOTTERY SEED THAN THEIR RECORD INDICATED...even this year when coming off far and away the most injury ravaged season in NBA history...and despite all that their fans continue to come out, finishing 2nd in the NBA in attendance with the 3rd worst record. And...despite their amazing attendance, Raptors fans have to read about once or twice a month an article written by a US writer predicting the team will soon head South...Talk about lack of respect...

So do you think that you just might feel screwed over if you were a Raptors fan?

I think what DV is trying to say is that you don't have to post your agreement with everything. posting should be for voicing your opinion/argument. Just trying to give you a heads up before someone else does.
