    Campbell is done. Strawberry, Wafer, and Harris are the 3 remaining Rockets without significant guaranteed contracts. Absent a trade, the team will need to cut two of them. (And my guess is there won't be a trade yet... the team probably goes into the season without Deke at first... they'll watch the team play some games and then decide whether they need him more than a backup guard in Francis or Head).

    Who do you think is the next cut? Feigan thinks Harris has the best chance, but each of them brings a different skill:

    Harris: size and interior play.
    Strawberry: perimeter D.
    Wafer: long range shooting.

    My guess is that Wafer is next, followed by Strawberry. I think Harris is pretty safe. Adelman seems to like him too much to allow the team to cut him two years in a row.

    I agree Wafer is gone.... but I don't think the questions are the same as who to cut to make room for Mutombo. Think about it, even WITHOUT making room for Mutombo, you need to cut 2 of these guys. So this question is unrelated to Mutombo.

    Making room for Mutombo will instead involve a decision between the one surviving member of this trio and one of the guys with bigger guaranteed contracts. Most likely making room for Mutombo also involves cutting salary to avoid/reduce luxury tax... so it's not a matter of just cutting a guy, but rather trading a contract.

    Getting Artest makes Harris even more irrelevant. I also can't see Von Wafer making the team. Of the 3, I think only Strawberry has a chance of making the 15 man roster.

    I don't think Wafer makes the team. I've seen him play and he was a no show on the floor. I don't think he has the skills or the determination to make it in the league.

    I think Strawberry can be a nice 3rd string PG. Last year, he showed the handles necessary for part-time point duties and his defense was impressive. Suns fans appreciated the effort too. He's worth keeping IF he can improve his shooting.

    The word is Harris and Wafer are having a much better training camp than Strawberry.

    I have a feeling we keep Harris, even though he seems a bit redundant. The Rockets seems to favor players who simply know how to play, versus players that fill a particular need in the rotation.

    harris did a decent job when landry was out but now that landry is back AND we have artest plus dorsey, he kind of seems unnecessary.

    i don't know, he is a good back-up plan and we're talking about hopefully garbage time only for any of these three anyways.

    I think as much as Harris is working hard...we really don't need another undersized 4.

    I think Morey does need to get on his cardio. He's only like 36 and is pretty chubbs. At least he should have a personal chef making health food for him.

    Yea, don't we just have to cut one more person to trim the roster to 15? I really dun think Deke will be signed until Fed.

    i think Wafer will not make the team, since i really like harris and strawberry

    Yep... my mistake, just one more cut is absolutely needed. Signing Dikembe will have to include getting rid of another one (and dumping some salary via trade).

    Mmm let me see, I am asian so I will never cut out of rice. Stwarberry I dont really like but I eat it from time to time. I guess that leaves wafer.

    wafer gets cut next then imo i say we cut harris since we have a better jump shooter on the bench in head and barry
    and with the acquisitions of dorsey and artest and signing of landry, our PF depth is real deep.

    honestly i'd like to keep DJ for his size but we have so many guards so who knows. i really like Harris for what he brings to the table but it really does seem redundant to keep him with Artest on the roster now. iono but this von wafer person doesn't seem very likely to stay on the roster for very much longer. sucks but at least they're getting paid a fair amount just to come to training camp.
