So....anything new happen lately? I haven't been keeping up...

    Terrible trade for the Rockets...

    1) The McBaby factor: If you thought Steve was a whiner, you haven't seen anything yet. McBaby is a whiner to the core, the pinnacle being that whole "I've lost my desire to play" BS he pulled when the Magic were 0-95 to start the season. He practically quit on his team. Sack up and take some responsibility!

    2) He'll hinder Yao's development: Wasn't the idea for Yao to be the focal point of the team? Not gonna happen with somebody else jacking up 25 shots per game. Yao is going to end up being a 7'6" lamp post rebounding McGrady misses. Yao hasn't exactly proven himself to be a dominant rebounder, and his post game will suffer as a result of McGrady's ball hogging ways. Trust me, McGrady will not play second fiddle to Yao

    3) McGrady's heart is lacking: If not proven by the fiasco mentioned above, McBaby isn't exactly a "first one to the gym, last one to leave" type of guy. He's well known for half-assing it on the court and in practice

    4) He has a bad back: Ask any NBA player past or present who's had a back problem and they'll tell you that back problems NEVER fully go away. He even tried to use his back problems as an excuse to quit on his team, saying they might force him to retire early. He's not the type of player that willl play through the pain, either.

    5) The zone: McBaby was affected by the zone probably more than any player in the NBA, and he's not exactly the "pass first" type of guy, either...

So, the Rockets have just picked up a lanky, ball hogging, whiney shooting guard with a stiff back. Yay! Welcome to another 45 win, 1st round fodder season, Rockets fans!

I'll go back to my self imposed moratorium now. :D

I think that in a system where he does have a player like Yao it will be a bit of a difference for him and his play.

Yes the zone hurt him beucase he was the only player on the team that could do anything and everyone knew to guard him and let everyone else do their thing.

I think with having yao it will help becuase it will cause the other teams to worry about 2 players rather that stick to mcgrady like they did in Orlando.

I agree that TMAC does has his share of problems but you have to consider what we gave up. I do not think anyone couldve imagined us getting so much value for a Francis (coming off his worst year), a ball hog in Mobley, and an overpaid Cato.

There is no guarantee that this trade will work out for us but we already knew that what we had didnt work so in my mind, it is definitely worth the gamble

I'd rather him jack up 25 shots a game than dribble out 75% of the clock before actually starting the play.

All that extra time will allow for many more shot attempts.

99% of the experts who follow basketball disagree with you. there practically was not a team in the league that did not want TMAC if they could get him. yet, you've learned how to type.

TMAC is a good player. He is not a perfect citizen, but JVG will not tolerate BS. If he doesn't follow the program, he'll be gone. Until then, I'd welcome the guy if you are really a Rocket's fan. And guess what . . . the trade will not be undone (or is Wiseass working on that as we speak?)

lol...Clyde & Dream had a bench and some other good role players, what does this team have? I am not so much concerned about losing Steve, Cat, and Cato as much as I am looking at the bench and role players now. I think we are a 2 man show now and occassionally one of those guys doesn't show or is too tired.

I hope this works out and McGrady stays healthy.

i have to disagree ... we do have role players. Jim Jackson, Maurice Taylor who will be good to go b/c of his health, Leu, Howard ...

    oh wait.

Once and for all: Steve's shot volume was never, ever the problem. In fact, IMO, as repeatedly expressed, he didn't shoot enough. The problem was his shot selection, and more than that his ball domination/inability to initiate the inside out offense.

    TMac or Francis

    sorry, already tried Francis

    No Brainer

All those negatives made TMac the scoring champion last 2 seasons

Too late for this thread we've all seen TMac play
