The Rockets have until October to use the $4.5 million dollar exception. I am aware of the fact that it is still two months away, but I would really hate to see the Rockets get desperate and use it on something frivolous.
With all the talk of Mo Taylor wanting to go to the Magic, and the Magic not having enough cap space, do you think that the Magic are going to try to pry the exception away from the Rockets? And if so, what do you think it would take for the Rockets to give the exception up.
If the deal with the Magic doesn't go down, what do you think the Rockets will trade the exception for? Any ideas?

The Magic would be the most logical choice to help with the exception, since they are trying to make room for Mo Taylor, and we have a mere two months to use it.

But even something frivolous would be better than losing it all together. I am getting a little anxious about it too!

I think the exception is only usable to get a player already under contract.

You couldn't use the exception to get picks, because all it does is allow you to take more salary then you give up, and picks don't count for any salary. However, a second round pick for Bo Outlaw sounds good, if he'd like to play for $4.5 million.

Something frivolous wouldnt necessarily be better, unless it was a one yer frivolous thing, so it will be off our cap next season. Otherwise, just let it expire and save cap space in the form of not having someone on our team counting against our cap that we dont really need.

How interested would a team be in trading the exception for a future draft pick. Is this even allowed?
