Brilliant article. Insightful and Informative, even for layman like me. Could have even been MORE informative (like more on what gave cause to 80's rise of Wall Street), but the author probably wants to explain his point rather than it turn into an instruction guide like his book.

michael lewis i on a 60 minutes talking about a book he's coming out with on the crisis. one of the interesting angles is he interviews a few people who actually made money, including a doctor who stopped practicing medicine and opened a hedge fund and made $750MM betting the other way on subprime. one of the simple things the doctor did was read the prospectuses on these bonds. he says he saw the crisis coming in 2003
