I can't help myself, I am absolutely ecstatic. After suffering through some of the truly dumbest basketball I have ever seen anywhere (including little dribblers), suddenly there is a flash of hope. I see the distinct possiblity of a "great leap forward." If Francis and Mobley can receive brain transplants (or obtain a good measure of maturity) over the summer, so that their incredibly skilled bodies can fully function, whoa, we could see a significant turn around. By arena time the Rockets could be serious contenders.

Think about it, the ingredients are in place for the building of a Mav-like team, speed, size, skill. So long, suffering, Hello, entertainment. I predict that Ming will exceed expectations, that Nashbar or whatever his name is will dazzle us, that Griffin will delight us, that Taylor will surprise us, and that Thomas will continue to kick butt. If Francis and Mobley get under control, look out. If Ming does little more that stand in the middle (and he will do more), this team has SERIOUS talent. I don't think we have seen the best of Torres either. I am major pumped! I think Rudy and CD can "smell" another "clutch era" coming soon to an arena near us, don't you?

I love how you think that two rookies are the second coming, yet our backcourt that averaged 42 ppg and were our two most reliable scorers are somehow a second thought and a detriment to the team..

I don't want a Mavs like team, they were ousted from the playoffs and will never win a championship. I want a Rockets team with Rudy's new offense. This wasn't club knucklehead, it was the NBA's MASH unit last year and that's why the team sucked. If we were healthy last year, you would have seen the new offense used and would have seen a lot less iso plays.

A-train, our incredibly talented backcourt (and I mean that literally) apparently had no confidence in our frontcourt. Why else would they take bad shots, pass to each almost exclusively, and dribble the living "do do" out of the ball. This should change next season. The sky is the limit for Francis and Mobley, they only limit themselves. I don't think anyone can contain them. It is a head thing with them, they stop themselves with bad decisions. With an improved frontcourt (maturity of Griffin, return of Taylor, possible rebirth of Rice, maybe, continued great play of Thomas AND the new additions--rock and roll!

Oski-2005, I thought the Mavs were the most entertaining team in the NBA. I loved watching them during the playoffs. How can you say they will never win a championship? I think they are the third best team in the NBA right now? I promise you that, in the future, they will be our biggest hurdle in the playoffs in order to get to the Kings or Lakers.

i have absolutely no stats to back up the following assertion and am much too busy and lazy to find them...but here goes...

    if you score 42 ppg
    but give up 43 ppg

    you lose....

wins and losses are all that matters.

Steve and Mobley had no one to go to this year; hence, they'd jack-up 50 shots/game. Perfect production would be as follows:

    Steve 20 pts 8 rebs 6 assist
    Mobley 16* " 2 " 6 "
    Natch 14 " 4 " 4 "
    MT/EG 20 " 14 " 8 "
    YM/KC 20 " 20 " 6 "

*on 5 of 8 shooting, not on 5 of 15 shooting.

    Notice anything? ASSISTS!

Surprises for this year>>>> Natch's got serious game and Ming's gonna be on the all-rookie team along with JW, Gooden, Jeffries, Natch, and Butler.
