Maybe I'm in the minority here but I find this stuff extremely fascinating: http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/elegant/program.html
A friend just let me borrow it. The string theory is quite intriguing and goes along with my spiritual beliefs. Great movie, well done and easy to grasp.
Good stuff - Brian Greene is no Carl Sagan, but it's still pretty entertaining. Michio Kaku's book 'Hyperspace' is a little more enjoyable read about superstrings, extra dimensions, and all that business, but its not as thorough as 'Elegant Universe'.
Not sure if you guys are into the nature of Time, if so I recommend a book called "About Time" written by Paul Davies. Very interesting stuff. Here is a website that has an interview ( watch the video or you can read it) http://www.edge.org/3rd_culture/davies/davies_index.html
Great book, though it gets more and more difficult to grasp as you read on. Greene just put out follow-up book--The Fabric of the Cosmos--a few weeks ago.
