Rockets' rookie learning on the go

Houston - Jermaine Taylor is learning.

Every minute of every practice. Every second of every scrimmage. And every moment of every game. Each presents an opportunity for him to absorb and digest new lessons and right now Taylor is taking it all in with the gusto of a starving man whose appetite simply cannot be sated. Sure, he’s been playing basketball all his life but, in a way, he now finds himself playing a brand new game.....

If I had to guess right now, I'd say he'll put up big numbers this year.

    With the Vipers.

With that attitude, he is going to be a very good player. Glad to hear that Shane is helping these guys out on D...

    Great find DM...

I REALLY want this kid to do well, because I believe he has raw, natural talent. But he's looked out of his element so far, and I didn't think it'd be Chase who was so far ahead at this point.

What is his talent? I've seen a few summer league games, and the two preseason games. Didn't watch him in college. Taylor doesn't seem to have any skills that stand out to me.

He's got NBA 3pt range, a mid-range shot, good finisher but not as strong as Wafer, good ft shooting when he does get fouled finishing, and quick hands to steal the ball.

He looks as if he's trying to hard to make plays.

    Really?

He's an excellent shooter of the ball. Quick first step and can get to the hoop.
    Well above average athletically

I've only looked at him on the defensive end in the pre-season, and have been mighty impressed - he keeps in front of his man and doesn't get beat all that much.
Huge wingspan for a 6'5 guy too.
