This should be ongoing throughout the season.
Can Dwight Howard get back to 68% FT from his rookie season or his envisioned 70%?

I feel like i can actually see the fragility when he steps to the line.

From what I see , he doesn't get any extension on the shot so its really flat.

I don't expect him to shoot better than 55% unless they fix that.

They have to break down and strip his free throw shooting totally. He doesnt bend his knees and pushes every one of his shots. This is totally on Dwight. He must learn how to be receptive to bigger people teaching him how to shoot.

He's too strong to have any finesse. I would like to see him try to bank them.

He needs to shoot granny shots.

    He is mentally weak.

Although a bad free shooter himself, Asik has better form and is mentally stronger than Dwight.

Its painful, absolutely painful to watch Dwight attempt a FT.

Its going to get ugly, really ugly in the playoffs for the Rockets.

Agreed. Either this or shoot them granny style. Another advantage of banking them is that it is easier to get offensive rebounds. I also think Dwight should a decent portion of his second free throws as hard as he can at the basket, which would give the Rockets a decent chance to get the offense reound.

He stares too hard at the rim. He needs to relax. Mentally weak.

Is there anything here to discuss? It is what it is. And no amount of babbling from uninformed fans is going to change it. Would you please stop posting white bread pablum like this? Embarrassing.

Bank it off the front of the rim and get his own rebound, Yao style.

We're going to see HAD a lot this season.

My two cents: Dwight is just going through the motions when he goes to the line, not trying to MAKE the free throws. It's clearly mental as he shoots a high percentage in practice. All we can do is hope he grows up in Houston.

Everyone means well, but I have no doubt that the constant tinkering with his mechanics in recent years is what's screwed him up so badly. Bottom line, for the first seven years of his career his FT% never fell below 58.6%, which -- while not good -- was acceptable. He just needs to focus on the basics; eyes on the rim, a little bit of a knee flex, and following through. Let repetition and muscle memory take over.

Love Dwight, but I don't think he shoots over 55%.

I cannot even describe how foolish you all sound. As if any of you have competed at the top most level at anything. Christ. Get some perspective in your life. Really.

Dwight isn't trying to make the free throws? Surely you can't be serious with that statement...
