Knowing now tha bonzi is a rocket, would the rox have made that deal. I know they would have considered keeping gay if we knew we were getting bonzi. Then we could have signed a pf also. I think its something to ponder. We could have developed him and still had a nice lineup this year

I see what you mean.. If we already have Bonzi, We can afford to develop Gay..

But for me when I heard of the Bonzi trade I was actually relieved. I've always been weary of the Battier trade because I felt while he can help in defense, we still need help on offense.. With the signing of Bonzi this levels things out.. Everybody pretty much should know what will be expected of them.. Basically with Bonzi, I feel much better about the Battier trade.

We never wanted Gay for ourselves, and would not have drafted him to keep. We would have chosen someone else.

We've added two proven players and gave up one potential player and one dead beat, whats there to whine about now doubters.

Even battier alone was woth it to me but this helps definitely.

Does evryone here still want Jho and alston?

Will the TE play a part in an additional trade to bring in another PF?

No, both seem like nice guys, but as players, I would be happier if both were on other teams. The Alston-James trade, IMO, is one of the worst in Rocket's history. How about a lineup of James, Wells, TMac, Ming, and Battier? Alston might be the better passer, but I am not sure. James is by far the best shooter of the two. Alston underwhelmed last season.

we have more young talents to grow than we can tolerate even without Gay, don't we? Head, KillBill, Novak and JLIII come readily to mind.

True, but in retrospect, None of those will EVER be an Allstar.. One or two may become a starter but that's not even guaranteed.. Gay's ceiling is much higher than any of our young prospects.

As long as our Supercombo are around, Gay would be nothing more than a third option right? If he is really that talented, I think he would do what Mcgrady (well, if you like, Joe Johnson) did -- sign with a lottery team looking for a leader as soon as he becomes a FA. Agree?

We just don't have a chance to make the most of Gay's talent so let it be

I said after all was said and done, I'm pleased with the outcome, including the trade. Therefore I was not arguing with you.

I'm just adding to what you were saying, some extra points. Also whether you like it or not, the truth is Gay ceiling is a floor higher than any of our rookies/2nd year players.

Your statements on Gay bolting for another team is speculation at best. And infact a pretty weak argument because ANY player can leave ANY team regardless of their caliber. Who is to say VSpan or Head will be fixtures in our roster 3 years from now? Another team may not need a role player, or specialist as much as one team may need a 'star'?

Don't forget the fact that Van Gundy couldn't develop Gay if his life was on it.

maybe, perhaps, but not likely. having stro and gay wouldnt have forced us to go out and get bonzi.

plus, though it wasnt mention of battier rooting for him to come, im sure tmac used it on his pitch about workin with a former teammate. even though nothing has been posted bout battier, im sure it had SOME influence in wells coming.
