I feel it's in our best interests to keep a shooter of this caliber on our roster. We don't need to trade him for another big. We have Alston for that. On a offense that requires spacing, we will need Head in a major way. When the lanes get clogged because of the double/tripple teams on Yao and penetration isn't so easy, we will need Head to launch those 3's. We all know Steve Francis isn't a deadly threat from the 3 pt range, nor is bonzi, nor is McGrady (when he isn't hot). The only other accurate 3 point shooters we have is James and Battier, which for some may be enough. But I feel there's always room for shooters in an offense designed around Yao.

Sure he choked in the playoffs but he's young and he's still gonna improve in my opinion. We now have alot of players who can attack the basket (TMAC, Bonzi, Francis, James) but what we don't want to give up on is our 3 pointers. Remember during the regular season how many times his 3 pointers tied up the games at the end or resulted in a W for us? He is clutch.

He can't pass, he can't dribble, too short. You are right we need 3 point shooters. Novak is another who may shoot lights out in practice but in a game he sucks, he did nothing to impress me.

He does not need to pass, he does not need to dribble, because he is not a PG. Head is a bench player.

He can shoot 3 pointers. very impressive. Also, I do think JVG style hurt Head's game a little or he can be better.

not sure why Novak is discussed here.

Head is the one guard I find completely expendable with what I've seen out of Aaron Brooks already. AB has a great shot, and does everything that Head can't.

I don't really mind keeping Head, but if he's the key piece to bringing over a solid veteran PF, see ya later Luther. I do agree with the last post that he will be a good player in the NBA. Morey knows whats up though, he won't trade Luther away without getting fair value for him.

Don't trade Luther except we could get guys like Mike Miller or Jason Kapono or Kyle Korver back.

agreed. luther's value comes from his 3pt spot up ability, which we may miss and i think luther has a good bball iq, and will likely have several successful seasons in the nba. that does not mean that he will be an elite player that we remember for decades and would regret dealing.

his skillset is not as valuable to the new roster as to the last. the team is not devoid of other reliable 3pt shooters (tmac, battier, novak) he wouldnt get the same kind of minutes this yr.

We should keep Head - can't hurt to have the sixth best 3-point shooting guard in the league on your team.

I like Luther too, but with Tmac, Bonzi, James, SF, Brooks sharing the SG and PG position, I really don't see any need for Luther unless he is satisfy with 3-5 minutes each game..

If Luther is willing to stay and wait for his chance as a 3rd string backup, I agree to keep him unless someone offer a good trade. In addition, we really don't have any potential player to groom at the SG spot, so Luther could potentially be our of Mobley type of player...

    Our "P" Team
    Center: Butler
    PF: Butler/Landry/Novak
    SF: Harris/Novak
    SG: ??? (Head?)
    PG: Brooks

i would like to keep luther. he has shown that he is a very solid nba bench player. some people are forget that we are loaded with guards right now BUT bonzi's contract is up next year and there is no guarantee that he will be back. Francis has a player option next year, once again no guarantee that he will be back. Snyder is FA next year and chances are he will leave just so he can get some PT somewhere. We may go from having a glut of talented guards to just have tmac, brooks and james, possibly rafer next season. We must keep luther for the future seasons having young players that rockets draft is probably the most efficient/cheap way to get talent.

i dont know about you guys either but for some reason I always root harder for players that were drafted by the rockets and even if they leave the team I still root for them I feel like they were born as rockets into the NBA and will always stay that way. I mean I know bonzi and mike james are better players than luther and I will cheer for them, but give me a luther head highlight anyday of the week over a bonzi or mike james one.
