Jazz played the LAkers and Rockets last year in the playoffs.

Against Rockets the refs let the JAzz play the way they want.

Against the Lakers more fouls were called.

If the Rockets got the Lakers treatment by the refs The Jazz would've lost the last 2 years against the Rockets.

    Enough said

maybe so but the lakers also attack the basket much more than we do. kobe bryant had like 50 free throw attempts in game 1 because he attacked every time. pau gasol is also good enough to not get out rebounded by okur and boozer.

The difference between Jazz and a poker show: you don't see turns and rivers in a Jazz game.

Maybe the Lakers just physically match up better against the Jazz. Why does it always have to be about the officials?

    I'll take the bait.

Lakers created most of their plays on the move.
Rockets created most of their successful plays in the post.
Also more calls will be made when a play is made on the move. Ask Lowry.

The Lakers have the best swing (favorite) man in the league too. Kobe Yells, stares down Refs and intimidates them into making calls. I can't say i doesn't work because it obviously does. We can't depend on that though or else we'd be just like them ( pampered).

actually we shot about the same amount of free throws as the jazz did last yr. 26 for us and around 27 for them.

    v. the lakers though, the lakers got 30+ fts consistently. they do have a guy named kobe bryant.

    It's because of Kobe.

Kobe is the master of drawing fouls on the perimeter...the MASTER of it. He's a great player, not taking ANYTHING away from him.

But when guys hack, he's always shouting.

Actually Duncan also does that thing where if you reach, he brings his arms up. Maybe we need to start doing this because the Jazz reach and hack on eveyr play it's sad.

Lakers are to Jazz as Jazz are to us. Boozer owns our slower frontcourt, but he stands no chance against Odom and Gasol. Their length absolutely ruined him in the playoffs. He can't guard Odom on the perimeter, and can't guard Gasol. But in the end it comes down to Kobe !! He doesn't back down from their physical play, while Yao is too slow and deliberate and thus gets called for flopping fouls, and Tmac is too soft to attack their aggression, Kobe just owns them. Against AK-47, he just drives and dunks on him, and even when Matt Harpring tries his bully ball defense, Kobe still owns because he just draws fouls. THat's def the biggest difference, drawing of fouls and the fact that the Lakers length>>>> Utah physicality

It can't be that simple my friend. What about the Lakers are just flat out better than Utah? Maybe La has slashers against a team that has no shotblockers? Maybe, just maybe, the jazz are a better team than the rockets.

We've always had problems with elite Point Guards and DWill is elite.
Plus Utah's bigs can shoot from the outside.

If we play this team in the playoffs, we need home court advantage.

There is a consistent theme to many of your posts about refs that you think it has little to do with the outcome. While you can't blame the refs for a loss, to say it a) doesn't have a signiifcant impact and b) the refs do an absolutely appalling job refing our feature player is just not true. You can't watch tonight's game and draw any other reasonable conclusion with the number of jaw dropping bad calls that were made / not made.

The Lakers are a better team than the Jazz, that's why they beat them.
We are not better than the Jazz (at least last year's Yaoless team).

    Kobe is the MVP.

Let's see how the seedings are in the playoffs. I think the Rockets can BEAT the Jazz ONLY in the 2nd Round. I don't want to see these guys in the first round again.

I agree with this. I've been saying it for quite some time now. Monkey on the Rockets back.

I'm more interested in what the Rockets did or didn't do than the officiating.

Sign me up with you. Every post game thread is about the officials. It had nothing to do with the poor defense houston has been playing all year I guess? It had nothing to do with the gm failing to address the matchup problems vs this team. It had nothing to with Shane doing and giving 0. Its easier to just blame the refs.

I can't say I agree with any of that other than too much blame is put on the refs. :D

We've actually played pretty good defense since Tmac left town and Shane recovered from his injury. But, I agree with the fact that we lost this game, because we were just outplayed. Deron pretty much ate our backcourt alive.

    also...

Lakers fans have some B-Ball IQ...which lends itself to 'class'...albeit in certain situations. i remember seeing the laker fans cheer the celtics after a win at the forum back in the 80's. they gave bird a standing ovation as he left the game with minutes to go.

Utah fans are vicious, blood-thirsty people with an insular mormon community which is very close-minded and anti-outsider. i have watched them cheer a player who is on the floor, hurt, and not moving.
