All star cast Legendary director Great reviews so far Oscar contender? Could Scorcese finally catch up to Three Six Mafia?
Yes the Departed, according to the critics, tops Infernal Affairs, but without Infernal Affairs (the script at least), there would be not be such a good movie as The Departed
American movies have been ripping off Asian horror movies for years, so why not move on to Asian crime dramas? Besides, I read that this movie runs an hour longer than Internal Affairs, so I guess he added a lot of backstory.
i can't wait to see it. as an aspiring filmmaker i'd hope to see Scorcese win something! i'm also hoping to see another candidate for best actor in this film. i'm not very convinced with ben afleck or sean penn.
"Who wants to be like ex-cadet Yan!?" "I do..." Gets me every time. No way the American version lives up to the original. Most Hollywood movies are horrendous, lowest common denominator junk. I'll see it though, just in case.
It'll be interesting to see if they try to put in the Buddhist theme from Infernal Affairs, so I think the Departed will take elements from pts 1 and 3.
I've never seen internal affairs, so I guess I wouldn't know. I've been waiting for The Departed since I first saw the trailer this summer, though...
You didn't miss too much: However, this is the movie that's linked with the Departed. Not saying it to be a smarty pants but the Internal Affairs talk was really confusing me.
Hmm... I guess that is the difference between Infernal Affairs taking some scenes from Taxi Driver and basing the entire script of the Departed on Infernal Affairs, which was bought by Brad Pitt for $1.75 million
LOL. Have you even seen Infernal Affairs? Explain to me how it ripped off Taxi Driver, please. I'm curious.
ditto. I have both movies and I see no correlation/parallels whatsoever plotwise. As for The Departed, I have been anticipating this movie for a while. I DO want this movie to be great and succeed. I know for damn sure it cannot top Infernal Affairs but it can still be damn good. The best sequence in the whole trilogy: at the end of part III. The music, the ironies...classic.
i dont give a damn nor do i trust what the critics say. i highly doubt the departed can ever top Infernal Affairs. that movie was just simply a modern classic.
