I'm three quarters of the way through the book. I don't know if this has been discussed before but has anyone read this? From what i understand most of it is rubbish but there are some nuggets of truth. For instance Mary Magdelene (sp?) was not a prostitute, and her and Jesus did get it on.
Of course, because they are almost the same book. I liked them both but sorta like Die Hard and Die Hard 2
The Da Vinci Code is the first book i've read for pleasure (i.e. not because it was assigned for class) since i was about 8 or so, and i'm 23 now. i loved it. i like puzzle/riddle type stuff and ancient societies/rituals/symbols type stuff. good book. i figured out the last clue pretty quick. and then because my friend's brother also had that book, i started reading Angels and Demons. i got to about page 220 over winter break and then didn't touch it until the last two night and am now on page 500. it's pretty much the exact same book (dude dies with symbols, langdon called in, hot girl helps him out, secret society, crazy complicated/double meaning riddles, the church, dude killing 4 important people, etc, etc). still i haven't been able to put it down the last two nights, read up until 8 a.m. each night even though i needed the sleep and am supposed to be reading a lot of other stuff for research.
I guess this may be unusual (jokes aside, now), but I read Angels and Demons first, and then read The da Vinci Code. I ended up being a little disappointed by "Code," probably because I didn't read it first (and it's shorter). You have a good point. And read more!! Keep D&D Civil!!
Everyone has got ideas on how to cast this movie. How to cast the Da Vinci Code without pissing me off I would have preffered Julie Delpy (even though she is not a brunette) as Sophie Nuvue. Tautou is not bad. It could have been worse.
Here's a good interview with the lady who wrote the book decoding the Da Vinci Code from a website of the order that was grossly misrepresented in the work. http://www.opusdei.org/art.php?w=32&p=9312
Should have put a question mark at the end of that. I'm not saying it's true i'm asking if anyone has any ideas, articles, references etc. as to the validity of some of these claims.
Here are some for starters... http://www.stpaulsirvine.org/html/da_vinci_2.htm http://www.catholicparents.org/news/DaVincicode.html http://www.catholicexchange.com/vm/index.asp?art_id=20376 http://www.catholicexchange.com/vm/index.asp?art_id=20377 http://www.ctu.edu/WhatWeHaveToSay/Da_Vinci.htm
Where's the validity? The Gospels? ... and the latter two here combined, is the exact same material as the first one listed: http://www.catholicparents.org/news/DaVincicode.html http://www.catholicexchange.com/vm/...sp?art_id=20376 http://www.catholicexchange.com/vm/...sp?art_id=20377
