Shaq, Duncan, KG, who else? Even Dirk, Webb, and Jermaine O'Neal are not in the list this year. So can you said 20/10 is a line to seperate those who domiate from the rest? I noticed Yao's stat in the first three years in the league is very similiar to that of KG. Notice that other than the similiarity in stat, I am not saying Yao's game is similiar to KG's, they are quite different. So if this trend holds, Yao will become a 20/10 guy next year .
I think everyone agrees Yao would be a 20/10 player now if he averaged 36-40 minutes a game. His foul trouble and conditioning are the only things holding him back, and his conditioning seems much better this year.
yes oh yes! Yao will be there very soon. hes learning the game more and more and he will be in that very select company soon.
I don't think the 20/10 club seperates the elite. I mean didn't Elton Brand hit that mark one year? Wasn't Zach close last year, Otis Thorpe 1 year with the Kings before he arrived here? For a big guy, 25/10 or 23/12 range, that is when we are talking a dominant player/franchise group (TD, KG, Shaq) versus just the excellent, bring the lunch pail to work, club (Brand). There is a much bigger difference between a 20/10 type player from a 23/12 type player, than a 20/10 type player from an 18/8 type player.
It will be difficult for Yao to be 20-10 when McGrady is 28-5. The numbers just don't add up. But anything is possible.
I think if Yao didnt start the season so slow he would be a 20/10 right now. Yao seems to start off slow but picks up the pace during the season and hits his peak right about now (all star break) and starts to taper off near the end of the season. J
I don't understand the argument. From 00-03 Shaq averaged 28 & 12 and Kobe 28 & 6. Seems to me the problem isn't that a guard and center can't combine for 50 points and 15 rebounds (or even 60 and 20), it just the players have to be good enough to do it.
Dirk PPG 26.8 RPG 9.9 40% from 3... block and a half and over a steal per not 20 and 10 but close enough
Completely agree with that....for the time he spends on the court he is averaging what he should be. If he didn't have to play in China and his conditioning wasn't so bad he would easily be 20/10 everynight.
Yao would average less rebounds and less points since Brand would cut in on some of Yao's rebounds. Plus both players would need their touches and shots, meaning less shots for Yao. It would be fantastic for the team, but Yao's stats would definitely go down.
That sure WON'T be cool. I am confident that Yao will reach that pleateau next season. I am almost certain about that (though not a ground breaking prediction).
