Such a flip-flopper. I don't have a specific problem with the decision he made, but it always surprises me when someone can advocate a position, and then, because of people he knows, he changes his opinion. Didn't he consider his daughter and staff members a long time ago, like when he initially decided he didn't want to allow gay marriage? But, whatever, maybe he's just dense.
This is my biggest problem with the GOP defense of Cheney - "family is different; it's a personal matter" attitude. It was not particularly smart politically for Kerry to bring it up during the campaign, but it was valid. The reality is that these policies affect real people. If your attitude towards gay rights is different when dealing with real people, then something's wrong.
