So, is anyone besides me still watching this show? Unfortunately, I haven't been able to catch the past few episodes (downloading them right now!), but I am looking forward to the finale on Tuesday night. It's between Peter Manfredo Jr. and Sergio Mora. I've been pulling for Sergio, and I think he can beat Manfredo. Either way, the fight should be worth watching.
I love this show.....I want Manfredo to win. I heard that they have cancelled the show for next season though.
The Manfredo / Gomez fight was a good one (2 episodes back) Mora looks like he could win it. I was pulling for Gomez so I'll be rooting for Manfredo Jr. tonight.
I've tried to watch this show when it first came out but they spent too much time showing the boxers cry and talk about their feelings. Then during the fight, they spent more time showing the wife and kids of the boxers than they do showing the actual match. It almost seems like they tried too hard to go after the female demographic. I ended up switching to Spike TV and watching UFC.
I love the show. I'm rooting for Manfredo Jr. To get voted back in and then win it all would be awesome. Too bad about next season. Are they cancelling it completely?
Does Stallone own the rights to the show? If so, what about moving it to another network? If not, did we really need Stallone anyway? Too many questions.
Good show overall -- but way too many cuts to the crowd during the fight and all the emotional crap has got to go...
Yeah, I was thinking about why the show would be canceled, it seems good .. but then I realized that I watch it recorded and after I fastforward through all the crap(pointless rewards/challenges, "insights" of Sly and boring Sugar, family crap) I'm really only interested in 15-25 minutes of the show. It'd be better if they just cut out a lot of the family backstory stuff, leave some, but take out the majority of the fluff, and make it more of just a massive tourney.
I absolutely love the show! I watched a marathon rerun of all past episodes of "The Contender" and I couldn't get up for 5 hours straight! It was a really good show. But I love boxing and that's why I probably like it. I can't wait for tonight's episode(s), it should be fun! It begins at 7 pm btw, just in case anyone is wondering. I hope Stallone moves it to "Spike TV" or something next season, where he can concentrate on making it more male-oriented with less emotional stuff. But in a way they have to show this stuff to let you know how hard a life these guys were leading, where they come from, and what drives them; so I didn't mind that as much. My favorite guy was Ahmed Kaddour, that guy was just full of himself, and I thought he was the best character in the whole show. He was pretty funny with his Ali immitations (I still look good!) Anyways, it should be fun tonight, but I have had a feeling about Sergio from the first episode, he just seems like a fearless guy who has a high endurance for pain, I wasn't surprised when he beat Ishe (who I thought was the favorite until that point, but Sergio still beat him, and that was one heck of a match). I pick Sergio again for tonight, the guy is by far the most serious about this boxing thing, I think he is just more determined than everyone else, although he isn't th emost skilled. It might be a knockout too.
This show should come back next year -- some place... They should bring in George Foreman to replace Sugar Ray -- Leonard is cool, but just a little boring.
OK, don't ruin it for me, I am yet to watch it Well, I will just avoid this thread until I watch it I guess
