Over the years I've been able to get several good referrals based purely on recommendations from fellow posters here on the bbs. I thought this would be a good place for others to share their similar experiences. Just today I closed on a new house and had an absolutely awesome realtor who was recommended to my by her husband, the clutchfans poster known as Rockets Red Glare. I VERY HIGHLY recommend her for any of you guys looking to buy or sell your home. A few years ago I was involved in an auto accident, and the great codell himself provided me with a diminished value appraisal on my car that ended up netting me several thousand dollars. Also, last year I posted on here about a job opening at my company and I ended up submitting the resume of the poster known as Chilly_Pete. Not only did he get the job, but he ended up earning the employee of the year award last year as has proven to be a great asset to our company! So who else out there has had good luck with services/referrals that you've gotten directly from the Clutchfans bbs?
Can anyone recommend a good cheap moving company on the westside of town. Found out tonight I have a roommate/landlord with a variety of issues and I need to get out of there asap. I just need movers from a house to a storage unit.
I'm moving my big stuff this Friday and I'm using Three Men Movers. I'm going from Westchase to The Heights. They charge a flat $80 "trip fee", and then it's $112 an hour with a 2 hour minimum. I believe it's something like $90 hour if you do it Monday-Thursday.
Was that based on the amount of stuff you have? I really only need it for a few heavy things. I wish I could remember the name of the company I used last year.
No, it's just a flat fee I believe no matter how much stuff you have. It works out well for me because I got some other quotes and they were upwards of $850 because I'm moving to a 3 story home. For your situation though you'd probably be better off finding a company that charges based on how much stuff you've got to move. I know there are some "student movers" out there that is supposedly made up of college students that are fairly cheap. I don't know the contact info but you may want to look into that.
Why not just rent a UHaul truck and get like 2-3 guys from Home Depot or Fiesta or something. That's what I did last time I moved. Ended up spending a little more than $100 for 4 hours, for 4 guys.
I thought for a second you were Swoly haha... and No, because that would be racist........ altho I'm Mexican too...
there's a day labor location at the intersection of gessner and tanner rd.... i'll be hitting that up in a month when i move.
Also another around Westpark/59... and Fountain View/59. Don't know if they're still there since the cops have been trying to clear that place for a while now.
I scratched my car prety bad. I knew Codell had some good infor on car shops, so I did a search on his posts and found out about River Oaks Paint and Body (which is actually off Kirby). They did a great job.
Be careful, there are some moving scammers out there. Try these guys-http://www.darylflood.com/ If you dont have much, they charge you their lowest fee possible. I think it came to around $300 for me. The Mexicans that moved my stuff did a great job very quickly and I gave them a good tip.
Well not all of them are Mexican. I just didn't wanna make a generalization about a group of people. Not that I'm ashamed, I didn't wanna offend.
Alot of those people waiting for work at Home Depot are from places like Guatemala and El Salvador I noticed. They seem to speak a slightly different version of Spanish.
Hmmmm. Job when I moved to Houston... check. Roommate... check. Bride to Be... check. Oh and one time rockHEAD sent me a 10 dollar blockbuster card.
