For single post, outlaw wins out again with his response to The Freak in the thread about the Florida Supreme Court ruling. Best Poster - Will. Can't think of a single poster I enjoy more, and I enjoy reading the posts of many. The guy is an art-eest. Best Admin - "Administrator" edges out Jeff by a nose... I mean "Administrator" is so low key. Best rookie Poster - The Cat Post of The Year - I need to do some thinking on this one.... outlaw's post was interesting, Bob Rainey's gag Golden State-Rockets trade talks post was too. Wow, post of the year? It's an honor just to be nominated. Seriously though, I thought it was great that it go so many responses. I really expected it to be an empty thread but the positive replies really made me feel like I belong in here. Just want to say thanks to everyone who participated in it. Jeff, I'm getting teary eyed, thanks man. Best Poster-There's seriously too many. I'll give you my top 5, in no particular order, 1. BrianKagy, 2. Jeff, 3. TheFreak, 4. Rimbaud, 5. Achebe, but no slight to Clutch, Will, outlaw, RMTex, SamCassell, MadMax, DREAMer JuanValdez, mc mark, LHutz, and many others. Best Admin-Again, there's too many. They all do a necessary job to make this BBS what it is, so they all tie. Best Rookie Poster-The Cat Best Post-LHutz's movie idea, and I also have enjoyed all of the political threads. Some have complained that they've gotten too nasty, but when you're discussing something like politics, where those who are going to debate obviously have strong feelings about what they believe, of course you're going to get nasty. We all know it's nothing personal. Most Improved-Again, I give it to The Cat. Best Poster : So many ways to judge the "best" poster. I can't just pick one. So here you go : Jeff - Took on the task of physically doing what most of us would only verbally commit to : supporting the Rockets. I doubt I'd ever be as great a fan of the Rockets as he is, and I doubt anyone else on this board can either. He is the uber-fan. Congrats again Jeff. Will - This guy could rewrite a recipe for steamed elephant dung sound appetizing... prose that flows like poetry... 'nuff said. Popeye/Oeilpere - whether you disagree with what he says, or his "dreamcasting", the way he delivers it is like no one else on the board. He doesn't just say "this is what I believe", he says "this is what I believe and this is why I believe it". He initiates discussions, not wars. TheFreak - I remember the first few weeks I got on this board, I considered him a jerk. As time went on, he's another poster I've grown to enjoy reading. He is among the more "rational responders" on the board, meaning his responses almost always are rooted in rational thought rather than emotional conviction. He's kind of like the Spock of the BBS. Yes, I know this means some of you want to eject him from a torpedo tube into space in a coffin (only Star Trek people got that reference, I'm sure), but that doesn't mean he isn't worth reading. No offense to the basketball fans out there, but people like TheFreak, dc sports, and Rocketman95 are what make the BBS Hangout forum my favorite forum on the board. LHutz - proof positive that we need to help mothers addicted to crack and save their babies from becoming crack babies. His schtick hasn't gotten old yet (well, not to me anyway) and he's still hilarious. Whoever you are, keep it up... oh, and I'll spare everyone the usual LHutz reference wrap-up of Huh? Right! Oh damn, I did it anyway, huh? Best Admin : Little-known secret... there's only one admin that manifests itself in multiple forms, but I'll play along... Clutch : he told me to say so. Jeff : he helped save the freakin' Rockets. What more do you want?! Best Rookie Poster NIKEstrad - He admits his ignorance on a lot of things and isn't embarrassed to say it. He puts out quality posts that always flow with the thread topic (well, most of the time). Always has a knack for posting "I want to know more" posts... I can't really describe it, but he does it. The Cat - Give this guy a reason to disagree with you and he's like a starving pit-bull on a t-bone. I don't think even Jason Collier's mother cared for him as much as The Cat does. Reminds me of a few months ago when we thought Francis3 and Kenyon Martin were the same person. Frightening. He's another person you may disagree with (and boy have you guys shown it in the responses to his pro-Collier comments), but still a person that can generate quality discussions and willing to back it up. Gotta respect that. BobFinn* - The human search engine. I've had lunch with Bob on several occassions and I used to be somewhat hesitant to be seen in public with him. After all, any man that takes his PC/keyboard/mouse with him wherever he goes does draw attention. I still remember that one time we went to a sports bar and I went in to the bathroom to wash up after eating. I heard this *click* *click* *click* from one of the bathroom stalls. I looked down and the portable Honda generator with cords plugged into it was the dead giveaway... it was BobFinn* posting yet another thread. Little know BobFinn* facts : he works at a keyboard factory testing keyboards, he has kids named "URL" (pronouned "Earl") and "404 : Page Not Found", he left his girlfriend for his mouse (he said the sex is better - I didn't ask for elaboration). Anybody this prolific has got some serious spare time on his hands. Post/Thread of The Year Too numerous. I'm sure I'd miss out on one of them, so I may wait until others post their responses. Among the more memorable ones though were outlaw's "I'm gay" post. That was cool. Not sure why, but it was. Of course, there's the near-800 (and quickly growing) monster of a thread about "BobFinn's Fantasy Basketball League". As usual the guys in it provide very little quality posts, but talk about volume.... yeow. Most Improved Poster I have no idea. I can barely remember what I ate for lunch yesterday muchless what some of you clowns posted last year. I'll come back and edit this post if I see anybody I like. Now for some turkey... woo hoo... If i want to vote for Rocketma95, i have to punch the first hole??? ------------------ The next time I have meat and mashed potatoes, I think I'll put a very large blob of potatoes on my plate with just a little piece of meat. And if someone asks me why i didn't get more meat, ill just say, "Oh, you mean this?" and pull out a big piece of meat from inside the blob of potatoes, where ive hidden it. Good magic trick, huh?
