Nothing I hate more than waking up with a buzz from the night before. Granted, I was out til 5am, but I was hoping the ole liverino would have metabolized all that alcohol.

So.....how do I avoid the hangover? I figure I have been given a unique chance to salvage my day.

Nothing worse than waking up w/ a buzz.

The best way to avoid a hangover is to take a multi-vitamin as soon as you get home. A dr. once told me the antioxidants bind with the alcohol or something. I've never had a hangover since. But it's too late for that now.

So just drink lots of water and take 2 aspirin.

I've heard that those Chaser things work pretty well for some people, but I've never used them myself so I can't say for sure.

Krosfyah is right though. Take a multi vitimin and drink tons of water before you sleep.

Multi-Vitamin huh? I need to try that next time, but most likely I'll end up forgetting and go to bed w/o it.

I usually feel better if I eat something before I go to sleep, of course you will feel gross after you eat a double-meat double-cheese from Whataburger at 4am. :)

Well, I'm finally out of bed. So I guess that's good. I happen to believe in the multivitamin theory as well. Unfortunately last night, I passed out at 4 before I had the chance. One thing to avoid is the ibuprofen or Tylenol after drinking, as it really screws up your liver.

The only thing that makes me really sick in the morning is when i got the drunk munchies and fry up a bunch of fried okra or something. I just dont know any better.

My remedy for a hangover has always been drink more beer. F it, just pop a brew. It'll turn that half-ass screwy buzz into a mellow, chilled out but true buzz. Then you drink another one or two over the course of a couple hours and gradually ease yourself back down. Or back up. Whatever tickles your glans.

To break down alcohol you need alcohol dehydrogenase. Once you run out of the enzyme you are SOL as far as waking up sober is concerned. The molecule is the first step in metabolising EtOH. The only way to get more alcohol dehydrogenase is to drink more alcohol. This is why they sell chasers at airports, and why bloody mary's are so popular early in the day (Tomato juice = anti-oxidant). You don't need a lot but you will feel much better faster. Mix a water here and there the night before, but if you wake up drunk then you have to drink if you want results.

    Cheers.

Take a look at the nutritional content of those Chaser things. All they are is a glorified B-Complex vitamin. So....go and buy yourself a bottle of B-Complex vitamins and take one after a night of partying before you crash/pass out.

Honestly, I was kind of scared when I discovered this little bit of knowledge. I had always previously looked at a hangover as my body telling me "Well, you knew better, now you're gonna pay". After discovering the miracle of the B-Complex, my first thought was "Damn, no lesson learned!"

They'll make your piss an orangish-gold, but other than that, you can abuse your body night after night. :D

I was wondering about that "Chaser" pill. Who here's tried it? Any side effects from it? What's it like? Thanks.

First of all, you don't run out of an enzyme. It's a catalyst so it doesn't get used during the mechanism. Second, it's a protein, not a molecule. Third, just drink a lot of water. The hang-over feeling is your body being dehydrated. You know how you pee A LOT more when you are drinking beer and alcohol? Well, you better replace all that water and then some if you want to avoid a hangover.

Enzymes are proteins, which are molecules. Just had to clarify that. :D

A catalyst doesn't get used up, but you may need certain amounts of it. Your body is probably constantly breaking it down and making more, if it's like most proteins.

The dehydration thing seems to make sense though.
