Finally, one of my favorite players on the team is about to have a breakout season. All summer long, teammates have been talking about Chucks new play. He's been doing it all this summer from hitting mid-range shots and three pointers to schooling veterans and rookies. What i'm most impressed about is his free throw shooting. Who is this guy??
Idk how much better his offensive game will be. He's a 6'6" center trying to shoot jumpers over 7" idk I think he will still be great on defense and drawing charges.
IF he's still here, I agree that he should be due for a heck of a season. Excellent defense mixed with his strength will make him a defensive specialist.
I remember last year, he had a great free throw at the very start of the season. I remember getting all excited that he wasn't moving that foot right before he shoots. Then he went back to his old shot. I don't know if anyone else noticed that or not. I think he's said and others have said that his free throw is fine in practice. I guess he just falls into a bad habit when he's in the game. Hopefully you're right though about this breakout season, I really like chuck. I've read about him knocking down threes this summer!
For some reason I doubt Chuck will try and branch out during his PT this season. I pretty much expect him to keep on with his past game habits. But, would be cool to see him try some things. Looked pretty good in the Yao vid.
IMO, outside of Battier, he has been the most professional. A constant worker. When he lost all of the weight last season, i knew he was serious.
He's a regular Bostjan Nachbar! Why, I heard there was a time when he hit 243-246 3 pointers in a shootaround before we drafted him! (may the legend grow and revisionist history be written...)
U mean our Chuckwagon Hayes, I'll believe it when I see it especially his FT shooting. He has got ass ugly mechanics that keep the ball out of the basket.
chuck can shoot as many 3's as he wants during pickup games over the summer. once camp starts, he's back to taking charges.
He SHOULD branch out this season, because finally Adelman will be able to use him in ways he never could before. Last year he was the starting Center and pretty much did everything he could just to play good defense and try to slow down the opposing Center... This year Adelman can throw him in there specifically to guard bigger wing players if he wants to. He never had that luxury before. We had such a hole at Center, he had to be used there.
