THE CHINESE NEW YEAR GIFT FOR YAO MING

We all knew that Yao Ming gifted every of his team mates a TAG Heuer watch during Christmas.

As reported in today's sohu.com, his team mates just gifted him back a custom built bicycle !!!

The custom built bicycle was originally a project that started a couple months before Yao Ming arrived into Houston. It was supposedly to be for his use prior to him getting his driving license and his BMW745.

And the project was long delayed....for over 2 years now and it turned out to be pretty expensive....> US$ 12,000.

    http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/sports/2870480

So now instead of being a fringe benefit from Houston Rockets management, the cost of the bike had been split amongst the team (probably around US$ 800 apiece) and sent to Yao Ming as his Chinese New Year gift !!

And here is how that custom-built bicycle looks like.

No spinning rims? I'm dissapointed. Also, isn't that seat a little small? I'm sure now that he has his beemer, a custom toilet is preferred.

EDIT: And its not even a Sledgehammer!

What a beat, 12 grand, looks like a Huffy.:) Doesn't have clipless peddles, rear shocks, should be titanum for that price.

Tags should have been Rolexes, no self respecting millionaire NBA player would wear anything less. - the Rox need to give Yao a max contract so he show more love to his teammates.

I think Tiger is richer than quite a few NBA players and he wears Tags, doesn't he?

Yao's a NBA player, so doesn't the bike supposed to have like 10 flat screens on it?

You'd think his teammates would want the bike chromed out, but I guess thats not Yao's style...but yet again his BMW had nice chrome wheels.

that's because they sponsor him. i'm sure if he had a choice between rolexes and tags, even tiger would wear rollies. i don't get it. chinese people love rolex watches. i was in switzerland over this winter break and i saw a chinese tour group gobble up seemingly hundreds of ridicuously expensive rolexes.. hopefully yao'll dish out the real bling for his crew when he gets that max contract.

You guys realize that that bike is completely custom fabricated, right? The price tag comes from the craftsmanship.

And Yao endorses Tags, just like Tiger.

They should have colored the bike White and Red for the Rockets colors! It would make the bike look more "flashy" ;)
